The Park is shut down for the season with all power to the camp sites shut off. The main dock is all that's left to come out and it will be left for your convenience as long as possible. The wind storm that hit the province only did minor damage to the park. We lost several trees throughout the park and on the trails, including one trailer being hit by debris and the owner has been contacted. Some shingles were lost and the power was out for approximately six hours. We ve had several complaints about the amount of mink roaming the lake shores and leavening a mess in several boats. I checked with the Conservation Officers and because mink are not on our pest control list the only option we have is to bring in a trapper around the first of November when the trapping season opens, but we should remember, we are in their territory. Sincerely, Ken Peterson General Manager (306)873-2500. kippark@sasktel.net

4 Hi folks. Chairman s Report Wow what an interesting 45 days of weather in NE Saskatchewan. Many of our farmer friends and neighbors have struggled to complete their harvest activities and do the fall work. I hope that the weather will give everyone an opportunity for completion of that work. Ken and his maintenance team had a successful shut down and completing the preparations for winter. Except for a few cabin owners, everyone has moved their stuff (boats, trailers, and golf carts) away from the sides of the road. For those few, would you please give it one more try and get this done before more snow falls. It sure makes driving on the narrow roads a lot safer and the snow removal a lot easier. As I indicated in my September note, planning for the replacement of the washroom and shower building remains our priority. Recently, several of us had an opportunity to visit the Stoney Lake Bible Camp s new washroom and shower building. We were very impressed and have garnered many great ideas from the visit. I am sure that many of you have seen the algae bloom that appeared last week. It has always been the position of the Kipabiskau Regional Park Authority, that natural water flows have and will continue to take place. However, we are very concerned that altering the natural flow can have negative effects on the water quality. Our Water Quality committee, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food Ministry and Water Security Agency, will continue to look for ways to ensure that abnormal water flows are prevented from entering the Lake. As a minimum we would expect, that the various government agencies associated with the flow of water and the environment would have studied the effects of any proposed alterations before granting any approvals. In addition, we would expect that we would be notified as an interested party before any approval is considered. Lastly, if you haven t had a chance to visit our new website at www.kippark.ca please do so. We also urge all Cabin Holder s and Seasonal Camper s to register to obtain their unique Login credentials so you can have access to important park information, forms, building permits, and bylaws and septic pump bookings, etc. Lyle Dunkley, Chairman Our Mission Statement: To provide the best possible facilities, products and customer service to our cottage owners, seasonal campers, daily campers, visitors and guests, on a user pay basis, within our resources and utilizing fiscal responsibility.
