GENERAL INFORMATION 30 th Annual Tri-Cities Wine Festival A judged competition and public tasting of Northwest wines featuring a blind judging with world-class judges Also includes a silent auction with donations from wineries, businesses, artists and individuals Saturday, November 8, 2008, 6:30-9:30 PM Red Lion Hotel, Pasco, Washington Produced by the Tri-Cities Wine Society (A member of the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau) All Pacific Northwest wineries are welcome Idaho, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia NEW THIS YEAR: NO limit on number of wines a winery enters. NO limit on vintages/same variety entries. NEW hours NO judging entry fee. NO minimum case requirement. All donations are tax deductible. Best of Show, Best of Class, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. Entrant receives a large-format original wood and metal sculpture by artist, Ted Neth. Awards are presented at the public tasting. THE JUDGING 1. The judging panel represents trade, education, media, retail or restaurants. 2. The judging will be by a blind, majority-rules, consensual procedure. 3. Each wine will be judged on its own merits. Judges will be instructed to look for flavor, terroir and balance. 3. The Festival reserves the right to re-classify, add and/or delete wine classes. 4. If a bottle is deemed seriously flawed, one additional bottle will be judged. INFORMATION AND RULES SHIPPING INFORMATION 1. Entrants are responsible for delivery, either from a distributor or regular shipping methods. 2. All wines MUST BE SHIPPED PREPAID, including payment of any customs fees. 3. Label each box with winery brand name as on entry form. 4. For shipments of more than one box, label Box 1 of 4, Box 2 of 5 as appropriate. 5. Complete and return the enclosed entry form NOT LATER THAN October 1, 2008. 2. Recommend entrants keep a copy of their entry form. 3. Completed forms will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis as SPACE IS LIMITED. Festival officials will acknowledge receipt of entry forms. 4. Wineries must be registered with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. 5. Educational institutions must have an enology or viticulture program. 6. Entrants donate 12 bottles (750ml or equivalent) for each wine entered 3 for judging and the Society s educational programs; 9 for the public tasting. 7. Entrants may remove unused wine after the public tasting; wine not removed is a donation to the Tri-Cities Wine Society. 8. Entrants must staff their booth during the public tasting. to cover set up, pouring orientation, pouring and booth tear down. Decorations, tasting notes and other literature are encouraged. 9. At 6:00 PM the night of the public tasting, entrants must attend Festival pouring instructions. They are based on Washington State Liquor Control Board guidelines. 10. Festival officials will provide entrants with winery donation disclosure information on approved IRS form after the event. 11. Festival chairperson has final interpretation of rules and requirements.
