Our Story Located in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, Oaklawn has been one of the premiere Thoroughbred racetracks in the country since 1904, best known as home of the $1 million Arkansas Derby. Today, Oaklawn also offers a full house of fun and excitement day and night, all year long. From mid-january to mid-april, Oaklawn plays host to some of the best horses in the country during the live race meet. Each and every year, champion horses launch their season in Hot Springs, including 2015 Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah, who began the year by winning Oaklawn s $900,000 Rebel Stakes and $1 million Arkansas Derby. Other recent champions include Untapable, Work All Week, Will Take Charge, Zenyatta, Curlin, Rachel Alexandra, Afleet Alex and Smarty Jones.
