Lochrachhof GEWÜRZTRAMINER Lochrachhof vineyard (Pochi di Salorno, BZ) is the ideal zone for the cultivation of the Gewürztraminer grape variety. The siltyclayey soil provides all the nutritional elements necessary for this vine to flourish. The chilly rising air currents characteristic of this alpine environment favour the accumulation of the typically delicate aromas. Of a deep straw-yellow colour, Lochrachhof Gewürztraminer has a unique and varied aroma, with notes evoking rose petals and lily of the valley. Harmonious and well-structured on the palate. Trattmannhof PINOT BIANCO The German word Hof refers in South Tyrol to the traditional farmhouse and the attendant farm buildings. At Trattmannhof, an enchanting viticultural area, located on the hill of Salorno, a well-preserved votive chapel, embellished with a fresco of Our Lady of Good Help, is situated. The young, stony and well-drained soil originating from the crumbling of local porphyry is ideal for the cultivation of the Pinot Bianco grape variety. Rich and fullbodied, Trattmannhof Pinot Bianco has a distinctive aroma of apricot and Golden Delicious apple. Pinot Bianco (clones: Lb 164, Lb 18; rootstock: Kober 5BB) Salorno, village of Pochi, at Trattmannhof locality (BZ) West, North-West; 500 m ASL Silty-sandy, stony, originating from porphyric stones Traditional; simple split Trentino pergola 5,500 vines/hectare Manual harvesting in late September; soft pressing in inert atmosphere; static decantation of the must; fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks for 80% of the process and in second and third passage barriques for the remaining 20%; ageing on the lees for about 6/8 months before bottling.
Masetti Cent anni LAGREIN For more than 100 years, 9,500 of the 17,000 total square metres of the Masetti vineyard, situated in Gries, set in the heart of the village of Salorno, have been dedicated to the cultivation of the Lagrein grape variety. The detrital soil, of mainly dolomite lithology, partly porphyric, is the ideal substratum to produce a unique Lagrein wine, with distinctive notes of red fruits. The dark ruby- red colour immediately underlines the organoleptic importance and complexity of this wine. Its delicate aroma evokes flowery notes of violet, which blend with fruity flavours of cherry and morel. Well-balanced, refined and elegant on the palate. Pichlhof PINOT NERO Pichlhof is an ancient and typical South Tyrolean barnhouse located on a hill dominating the Adige valley near Salorno. The vineyard, entirely planted with Pinot Nero vines, lies at the hillfoot, with a West, South-West exposure. The altitude (520 m ASL), the espalier training system and the silty soil of siltstonedolomite lithology, originating from moraine deposits, provide the ideal pedo-climatic conditions for the aromatic and polyphenol synthesis. Notably fresh and elegant, Pichlhof Pinot Nero wine is refined, well-balanced and particularly persistent. The light garnet red colour welcomes the delicate notes of raspberries and wild morel. Strong, yet velvety tanniness on the palate. Chardonnay Gewürztraminer First introduced into South Tyrol circa mid-1800 s, Chardonnay is a white grape variety which flourishes in the sub-mediterranean climate of the Bassa Tesina zone. While traditionally used in Trentino South Tyrol for the production of sparkling wines, in some vineyards in the Municipality of Salorno the grapes attain the right level of ripeness for the production of still wines. Of a deep straw-yellow colour, with a refined and characteristic aroma, this wine has a distinctive taste, with a light and pleasant note of bitter almond in the finish. King of the South Tyrol white wines, Gewürztraminer is highly appreciated for its rich aromaticity. This grape variety is cultivated in the best exposed vineyards on Salorno hill, on deep, silty, and densely clay soils. Of a deep straw-yellow colour, Dürer-weg Gewürztraminer wine has an aroma which evokes rose petals, cinnamon, tropical fruits and cloves. Dense and well-structured on the palate, well-bodied, notably fresh and lively. PINOT BIANCO Pinot Grigio The Pinot Bianco grape variety was first introduced in South Tyrol circa mid-1800 s. As the main variety used to replace the old Schiava vineyards, Pinot Bianco, had been the most cultivated white grape variety in South Tyrol for years. Planted on both sides of the river Adige on the Salorno plain, this vine grows on silty and silty-sandy soils originating from recent alluvial deposits. Of a straw-yellow colour, the wine has an agreeable and characteristic aroma with notes of apple, peach and apricot. Fresh and pleasing on the palate. The Pinot Grigio grape variety is cultivated in Salorno, at an altitude of 220 m ASL, along the river Adige. The alluvial soils gradually change from silty-sandy type to silty as you climb from the banks of the river Adige towards the mountain. Of a straw-yellow colour, the aroma has intense and clearly definable flavours of pear and Golden Delicious apple, jasmine and lily of the valley. On the palate, it is soft and markedly sapid. LAGREIN Pinot Nero Lagrein, an autochthonous grape variety, has been cultivated for centuries in South Tyrolean vineyards. The variety was first documented in 1526. In order to attain a correct polyphenolic ripeness, this variety requires high temperatures during ripening periods and therefore the hills surrounding the river Adige are particularly suited to its cultivation. Of a ruby red colour with deep violet hues, Dürer-Weg Lagrein aroma has fruity notes evoking raspberries, blueberries and violet. On the palate it is warm and dry, with soft and sweet tannins. The ideal habitat for the cultivation of Pinot Nero, the grape variety which has been cultivated in South Tyrol since circa mid-1800 s, is on the orographic left bank of the Adige valley, in particular in the hills of Egna, Montagna and Salorno. The silty soils with a lithological mixed composition (porphyry and dolomite), along with the sharp fluctuations in temperature, from morning to night, which occur during the grape ripening period, impart body and aroma to the wine. Dürer-Weg Pinot Nero has a ruby red colour, with a distinctive aroma of forest fruits and morel. Structured and silky tanniness on the palate.
