OUR STORY BARCELONA OF THE EAST BAY Our story began in Sant Cugat on December 18th, 1993, although the origins are difficult to identify. Our emotional connection with the Basque Country and Navarra allow us to bring the connection to you all here. We come from a world of art and culture, delicate palates, and deep affection for exquisite cuisine. We opened RONDES, an intimate space in Sant Cugat del Vallès. Seduced by Basque gastronomy and a passion for the kitchen, our warm, small space introduced an innovative style of elaborate pintxos of the highest quality. After three years RONDES expanded their location into a larger, modern concept called Telefèric. Staying true to our initial vision and supported by our loyal patrons, we had the opportunity to develop into a growing concept far beyond the town of Sant Cugat. Nineteen years after the beginning of Telefèric in Sant Cugat, we arrived in Barcelona, opening doors to a new location with the same enthusiasm with which RONDES initially opened. Today we are so proud to be opening our new home here in Walnut Creek, California.
the space The 3,800 square foot restaurant is on the second floor of the new, three-story building in downtown Walnut Creek at 1500 Mount Diablo Boulevard. It has sharp angles, industrial steel elements, and modern lines. It is softened by a cohesive design concept with many curves. The energetic approach is evident the minute your guests enter the space. The main dining room has an open kitchen on the guests left, counter seating on the right, and a colorful tiled wall straight ahead. The large operable windows lining the restaurant and the private dining room let in ample amount of natural light. The space is interconnected perfectly with decorative light fixtures of varying sizes and shapes. Named Boutique Design Magazine s Top 10 Best Decor Restaurants 2016. Named Diablo Magazine s Best New Restaurant in the East Bay 2016.
private dining room PERFECT FOR: CORPORATE EVENTS, PRIVATE DINNERS, & CELEBRATIONS. Our private dining room accommodates 20 guests for a seated meal and 30 guests for a reception. It is perfect for those seeking a smaller-scale experience. This 400 square foot dining room on the Main Street side of the restaurant features a suspended wood ceiling and porcelain pendants from Spain that create a warm glow and intimate feel. The Sala Dali is full of original pieces of art from the Spanish painter Salvador Dali to enhance the room with renowned art. We can provide A/V on request.
la terraza patio space PERFECT FOR: CORPORATE EVENTS, PRIVATE DINNERS, CELEBRATIONS, COCKTAIL HOURS, NETWORKING, & RECEPTIONS Our 780 square foot outdoor terrace serves as an extension of the interiors of Telefèric Barcelona, with its floral tiling and wired seating. This terrace can accommodate 40 guests for a seated meal and 60-65 guests for a reception. This space features it s own private bar with a caesarstone top, a private entrance, and an outdoor view overlooking the bustling Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Walnut Creek.
the cuisine Dishes recalling those made famous at the original Telefèric Barcelona restaurants appear on our prixe fix and customizable menus for events, including Ma Premiere Foie (foie gras served with grilled apple, caramelized onion, and cherry jam), recognized by the City of Barcelona as the "Best Tapa 2014" in their annual contest "Ruta de Tapas." Other dishes include Pulpo Trufado (wood grilled octopus with roasted potato cream and crispy bacon), Gambas al Ajillo (sautéed prawns with garlic, Spanish olive oil, and sofrito), and larger plates meant for sharing like the iconic Jamón Ibérico Gran Reserva (40-month aged ham sourced from Ibérico pigs in Spain). Telefèric Barcelona also offers its signature paellas. The kitchen team make use of the abundant seasonal Bay Area ingredients, but also import Spanish cheeses and meats (particularly Ibérico ham). We offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.
the cocktails Telefèric Barcelona offers modern Spanish-inspired cocktails, including the Spanish Merchant Gin Tonic (209 gin, orangecinnamon tonic, cardamom, blood orange, fennel, and candied ginger) and Sangria Telefèric (red wine, gin, brandy, citrus, berries, pineapple, cinnamon, and mint). The wine list features bottles from Northern California producers as well as a variety of rare, yet affordable, Spanish wines. Our cocktail program at Telefèric Barcelona is a one of a kind craft experience in Walnut Creek for you and your guests.
ONE OF A KIND If you haven t been on the la terrazza on a warm summer evening, you must. I dined here one evening & knew immediately it was where I wanted to hold my engagement party. The staff was delightful, the setting beautiful, and the experience one of a kind.
