I Am Going to A Restaurant!

I am going to a restaurant to eat with my family. When we get inside, we might have to wait to be seated.

I can hold a favorite object or do an activity while I wait (bring a couple of choices from home). If I need to use the bathroom there will be one in the restaurant. I can ask my parents or restaurant workers where the bathroom is located. When it is our turn to be seated, we will follow the host to our table.

I will sit down in my seat. When the waitress asks me, I will tell her what I want to drink.

Circle the kinds of drinks you like to get or draw your favorite drink? Water Milk Soda Other Next, my family and I will look at the menu to decide what we want to eat while the waitress gets the drinks.

Some of my favorite foods are (circle or draw a picture of your favorite foods): Hamburgers Chicken Macaroni & Cheese Other

While I wait for the waitress to come back with our drinks, I will follow some restaurant rules: I will use my inside voice. I will use kind words.

I will stay at my table. I will ask for help if I need it. I can hold a favorite object or do an activity while I wait.

The boy above brought a book to the restaurant. Draw a picture of an activity or object that you would like to bring to the restaurant. When the waitress comes back I will tell her what I want to eat. Everyone needs to order their food so I will wait for my turn. I know it is my turn when the waitress turns towards me and asks me what I would like.

While the waitress goes to get my food I will continue to follow the restaurant rules: I will use my inside voice. I will use kind words.

I will stay at my table. I will ask for help if I need it. I will hold a favorite object or do an activity while I wait.

After the waitress brings my food I will eat. I will only touch my own food and silverware (unless someone offers me a taste of their food).

I will use a napkin if I get food on myself. When I am done eating, I may need to wait for the other members of my family to finish eating. While I am waiting, I will follow the restaurant rules. I will use my inside voice.

I will use kind words. I will stay at my table. I will ask for help if I need it.

I can hold a favorite object or do an activity while I wait. After we are done eating, the waitress will come take our plates from the table. If we are getting dessert, I will need to pick what I want from the menu.

Some of my favorite desserts are (write or draw them in the box below) When the waitress asks me, I will tell her what dessert I would like.

While I wait for her to bring my dessert, I will follow the restaurant rules. Draw a picture for each rule. I will use my inside voice. I will use kind words. I will stay at my table.

I will ask for help if I need it. I can hold a favorite object or do an activity while I wait. When the waitress brings my dessert, I will eat it. I will only touch my own dessert (unless someone offers to share their dessert).

I will use a napkin if I get food on myself. When I am finished with my dessert, I will follow the restaurant rules while I wait for my family members to finish their desert. Write and/or draw the restaurant rules (look back in the story if you need to). 1. 2. 3.

4. 5. After we are all done eating, I will follow the restaurant rules while we wait for the waitress to bring us our check.

I will continue to follow the restaurant rules while I wait for my parents to pay the bill. After my parents pay the bill, I will walk nicely out of the restaurant with my family.

If I follow the restaurant rules I can earn something I enjoy, like picking the music on the way home, wearing a favorite sticker, or watching my favorite TV show at home. What would you like to earn for following the restaurant rules? Draw or write it below:

When you take your trip to the restaurant, some things may happen differently than they did in this story. In the box below, write or draw what might happen differently on your trip to the restaurant!
