NATURALLY - WOOD SMOKED CANNED FISH PRODUCTS since 1882

The story 1882 Scandinavian businessman Arnold Sørensen founds a company in Riga and names it in his own name. Factory produces metal cans, canned fruits, vegetables and fish 1938 The total value of the produced goods reaches $3.4 m. There work 360 employees in the company. Goods have been exported to Europe and USA. Products gain awards in the exhibitions and fairs It was 1882, when in the very center of the World map between Scandinavia and Europe, Asia and America, in the port city Riga, company named Arnold Sørensen was founded. As one of the main Hanza cities, Riga was popular in the whole Europe as logistics and trade center. In the country with lot of woods and local sea full of silver, dainty size fishes sprats, an excellent product, using local resources wood and fish, was created and named smoked sprats. During the political changes and World Wars, Latvia became a part of USSR, where Riga s golden sprats as well-known in each family, while the product was also exported to USA as Brisling Sardines. More than century long experience lets us return in USA market with these high quality and delicious taste products. 2003 1976 2004 Company unites with Riga Sardines factory Company goes through bankruptcy and reorganization process, brands Arnold Sørensen and KAIJA have been retained. There are 4 export markets when company renews its activities 2016 Sales returns to USA Total export countries: 34 After the World War I, a flying seagull with a fish in its beak becomes a trade mark of the company and KAIJA (translates in Latvian as «seagull») becomes a brand of the company 1920 Company becomes as an experimental factory of canned fish and culinary products for all the territory of USSR 1966 Factory becomes the biggest processor of Atlantic fish in Baltic States, with 11ha total area of a plant and 720 employees, working in the company.
