Major varieties in Greece Two of the oldest and most cultivated (1/3 of the Greek vineyard) varieties of Greek vineyards are: Savvatiano Roditis Savvatiano, like Roditis (individually or blended with other varieties) contributes to a large volume of dry white wines, but also to the popular Retsina.
Savvatiano Roditis Retsina Modern wines produced from Roditis, have balanced and refreshing flavors, elements that introduce "European" character and versatility on the table.

Moschofilero-Mantinia (PDO Mantinia) Dry white wines of high acidity from the aromatic red grape Moschofilero. This variety is very popular abroad.
Nemea-Agiorgitiko (PDO Nemea) The Agiorgitiko wines have a deep red color and intense aromas. Many compare Agiorgitiko to the Italian variety Santzioveze, that produces the famous Chianti wines.
Assyrtiko-Santorini (PDO Santorini) Dry white wines, some of which are aged in barrels and in safety for many years. It is a high alcohol wine, with high acidity and has rare features compared to other white Mediterranean wines. Some sweet wines from Assyrtiko are also produced from sun-dried grapes (raisin wines). The sweet local wine of Santorini Vinsanto is world famous.
Xinomavro-Naoussa/Amynteo (PDO Naoussa/PDO Amynteo) and (PDO Goumenissa, PDO Rapsani) The characteristics of the wines from Xinomavro improve over time, therefore are enhanced by aging, and in some cases for decades. The ruby color, the full mouth acidity, the rich aroma and rough tannins, have earned the title of Greek Nebbiolo.

Robola of Cephalonia (PDO Robola of Cephalonia) Dry white wines, which are usually high-ranking and produced exclusively on the island of Cephalonia.
Μuscat White & Muscat of Alexandria (PDO Samos/ PDO Muscat of Rhodes/ PDO Muscat of Rio Patras/PDO Muscat of Patras PDO Muscat of Cephalonia) & (PDO Muscat of Lemnos/PDO Lemnos) Dry white wines with rich flavors, but mostly great sweet wines, which are justly placed among the best dessert wines in the world. The best known are : (PDO Samos) The sweet wines from white Muscat of Samos (PDO Samos). (PDO Muscat of Lemnos/PDO Lemnos) And sweet or dry white wines of Alexandria Muscat of Lemnos (PDO Muscat of Lemnos/PDO Lemno).
