It was established in 1580 by Henry d Arche, dean of the city of Bordeaux, whose wines were already some of the most famous in the area. Now winemaker Jerome Cosson has taken the helm, producing Grand Cru Classe Sauternes. Sharing its terroir with wellknown neighbours, Chateau D Yquem and Guiraud, the wines of Chateau D Arche have acidity and complexity to rival any other in Sauternes. Charles explains, We are ambitious people, each giving up high-flying careers to pursue our dream. La Guita is the only Manzanilla produced exclusively from Pago ( Grand Cru') Miraflores, with the vineyards located around the town of Sanlucar where the Albariza soil provides great mineral character. The more unusual gem of their portfolio is an En Rama Manzanilla (meaning unfiltered and unfined), which is aged for seven years under a veil of flor yeast.
