L. Gentlemen: Respectfully, T. Wallace, Director California Department of Food and Agricul ture and The Honorable Board of Supervisors Stanislaus County In accordance with section 2279 of the California Food and AgricultureCode, the Crop Report for Stanislaus County is hereby submitted. The total gross income is estimated to have been $426,58,000. It is emphasized that this figure r~p~esents gross inqome only, and does not indicate net income. Although the gross income was 2.4 percent above that of, and is a new high for the County, opera~iqnal, production and marketing costs are also at record levels. Labor, fuel, feed, fertilizer and pesticide costs have had a seriqus af:j;:ec;t on net incomes. Moreover, many commodities were subject to drastic reductions in market values. The market prices received for nine major commodities averag~d 2 percent below those received in, and this of course, had a further impact on net incomes. The County's ten leading commodities in were: Milk, all ChickensL all,. Egg, chicken, all Cattle & calves, al~ Peaches, all Almonds Alfalfa Tomatoes, all Grapes, all Walnuts $79,56,000 68,42,000 44,575,000 4,999,000 27,00,000 8,706,000 7,45,000 6,597,000 4,57,000 0,090,000 We wish to express our appreciation to the many persons who have contributed to the preparation of this report. ~./ // /j;'~\,r~.?, ~~r /. t ~ Armen V.
