Put the water and detergent into a bowl and mix with a metal spoon. 3. Divide moistened mixture into four parts. 4. Add about 20 drops of food coloring to each part. 5. Add more drops for a deeper coloring, but too much red might make it brown. 6. Mix the color into the detergent using your hands. The food coloring will wash off easily. 7. Shape the lump into a stick form and allow to dry overnight. 8. The colors are easy to apply to many surfaces (bathtub wall is really good) and will wash off. Wet the tip of one of the sticks and you can use it as a make-up stick. Be careful to keep it away from the eyes because it will sting. 9. Use warm water to clean up. Face Paint: Mix equal parts cold cream and corn starch. Add food coloring. If you want it thinner, add a few drops of water. Easy to apply and easy to wash off. Kool-Aid Modeling Dough (cooked) 1 cup flour ¼ cup salt 2 Tbsp. cream of tartar 1 envelope unsweetened Kool Aid 1 cup water 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil 1. Mix dry ingredients in a medium sauce pan. 2. Stir in water and oil. 3. Stir over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes until mixture forms a ball in the center of the pan. 4. Take out of pan and put on a floured surface and knead for 1 minute. 5. Store in an airtight container. It will keep for a long time.
Kool-Aid Modeling Dough (uncooked) 2 1/2 to 3 cups flour 2 cups boiling water with 1 package Kool-aid (any flavor) 3 tablespoons corn oil 1/2 cup salt 1 tablespoon alum 1. Mix ingredients and knead with flour (may take up to 1 extra cup). 2. Use more if the dough draws moisture in high humidity. 3. Keeps well, has a nice fragrance and is very colorful and very flexible. Basic Cooked Dough 1 cup flour 1 cup water 2 tsp. cream of tartar ½ cup salt 1 Tbsp. oil food coloring 1. Stir together and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes. 2. Store in airtight container. DO NOT REFRIGERATE. Lasts almost forever. VARIATIONS: 1. Sparkle Dough: Add 2 Tbsp. of crystal glitter before cooking. 2. Scented Dough: Add a few drops of perfume or cooking extract to the water before cooking. Peanut Butter Play Dough ½ cup peanut butter ¾ cup powdered sugar ½ cup corn syrup ½ cup instant dry milk 1. Mix all ingredients together. 2. Knead until very smooth. 3. Have fun playing with and eating it.
4. Store in the refrigerator for a few days. Creative Clay 1 cup cornstarch 1 cup baking soda 1 ½ cups cold water 1. Stir together and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until very thick like mashed potatoes. 2. Cool until you can work it with your hands. 3. Roll, cut or shape it as you wish. 4. Let shapes air dry for about 2 days. 5. Paint or finish as you want. 6. If you want to use these as ornaments, press a paperclip or punch a hole in it with a nail while it is still soft. Jello Dough (cooked) 1. In a small saucepan combine: 1 cup water 1 Tbsp. oil 1 3-oz package Jello 2. In a medium-sized bowl combine and set aside: 1 ½ tsp. granulated alum ¼ cup salt 3. Heat Jello mixture over medium heat until it boils. 4. Pour boiling mixture over the ingredients in the bowl. 5. Stir to mix, then add 2 ½ cups four and mix until you have a dough. 6. Turn the dough out on a floured surface.
7. Let it cool slightly (but still warm) and knead for a minute or two, adding flour as needed. 8. It will keep for months in an airtight container. Jello Cloud Dough (uncooked) 1 3oz package Jello 1 ½ cups flour 4 Tbsp. oil 5-6 Tbsp. water 1. Combine Jello and flour. 2. Add oil and stir. 3. Gradually add water until the dough is the right consistency. 4. If it is too dry, add A LITTLE more water. 5. If it is too sticky, add A LITTLE more flour 6. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days. Cloud Dough 1 part oil 1 part water 6 parts flour 1. Mix all ingredients together to make a soft dough. 2. If it is too dry, add more water. 3. If it is too sticky, add more flour. 4. This will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days. Frosting Fun Dough ½ can frosting ¾ cup powdered sugar ½ cup flour 1. Mix all ingredients together until they form a workable dough. 2. Oatmeal Dough 1 part flour 2 parts oatmeal 1 part water 1. Mix flour and oatmeal. 2. Add water gradually to bind the mixture. 3. Keep in airtight container for a few days Easy Fun Dough 1 ½ cups flour ¾ cup salt ¾ cups water 1. Mix all ingredients together. 2. Knead until a workable dough is formed. (Add more flour or water as needed.) 3. This dough will keep for weeks in an airtight container. 4. You can use this to make Clothespin Characters. Clothespin Characters: 1. Use all wooden clothespins. 2. Cover the top of the clothespin with about 2 Tbsp. of dough. 3. Shape or mold as desired. 4. Make indentations for eyes and pull out dough for ears and nose. 5. Slip the clothespin over the rim of a deep baking dish (or cake pan). 6. Bake for an hour at 325 degrees. Don t peek because the dough may crack. 7. Pain the characters when cool. Homemade Bubble Solution 1 cup water 1/3 cup dish soap
2 Tbsp. Corn Syrup 1. Mix together. 2. Let solution sit so there are no suds before using. 3. Cut holes in cottage cheese or sour cream container lids to use. 4. You can also use straws with string in the middle to make blowers.
