December 7, 2017 Dear Lectors: Please find enclosed the lector schedule for the period: January 1st through April 1st (Easter Sunday). The special masses for this quarter include: Wednesday, February 14th (for Ash Wednesday) at 5:00pm and 7:00pm. Then on March 29th at 7:00pm for Holy Thursday mass; on March 30th (for Good Friday) at 1:30pm, and then March 31st (for Holy Saturday) at 8:00pm for our Easter Vigil. Please note that on Good Friday evening there is also a 7:00pm Tenebrae service, however, Fr. Mike will select the lectors for this. And finally Sunday, April 1st is 'Easter Sunday'. You will notice there are certain masses this quarter when our Lector services will not be needed. I wanted to bring these to your attention. The weekend of Jan. 27th & 28 is Catholic Schools Week and the students will be lectoring all the masses except for the 6:30am mass on Sunday, Jan. 28th - so I did schedule lectors for the 6:30am mass. Then on Sunday, Feb. 4th - the Boy Scouts will lector for the 10am mass only. And on Sunday, March 4th the Girl Scouts will lector for the 10am mass only as well. So we did not need lectors from our roster for those times. You may also notice there is no Sunday-type mass schedule for January 1st of 2018. That is because when January 1st falls on a Monday (which is when it is this time) it loses it's Sunday type of obligation. There will be the normal daily mass times of 6:30am and 8:30am however. So if you are interested in either one of those - please let me know. For next quarter, the deadline for notifying me of your dates of unavailability for the period: April 2nd thru June 30th of 2018 will be Thursday, February 22, 2018. Please remember to call a substitute if you are unable to fulfill an assignment. Also, please continue to sign the lector log-in sheet in the sacristy when you serve. If you know of anyone interested in serving as a lector, please ask them to call me or give their contact information to me and I will be happy to contact them.
