This is a marvellous example of the grape which South Africa has made it s own. 5 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, Lawson s Dry Hills 2013/14 5.50 6.75 19.95 New Zealand Beautiful ripe passion fruit and citrus aromas leap from the glass. The palate display's a full array of flavour's from passion fruit, lime and tropical fruits, through to gentle fresh green herbs. This wine is finely balanced, the dry palate has crisp acidity and a lovely minerality. 6 Riesling, Estate, Dr Loosen 2012 18.50 Germany This is a classic Riesling from the Mosel, characterised by a fragrant nose with a hint of honey and green apricot fruit. It has a crisp minerality with a very powerful nose of spring flowers and white fruit such as peach and pear. Fresh with clean citrus flavours and a long enjoyable finish. 8 Sancere, Domaine Pierre et Alain Dezat 2013 27.50 Loire - The Loire Valley is the home of Sauvignon Blanc and produces wines which are much softer and completely different in style to the now famous vibrant, zingy Marlborough Sauvignons. Attractive mineral, apple, citrus and cut grass notes on the nose. Fresh, clean, youthful and precise on the palate with good intensity of apple and citrus fruit flavours leading to a fresh finish. 9 Gewurztraminer, Domaine Rolly-Gassmann 2002 32.50 Alsace Rolly Gassmann is nothing if not a perfectionist, this particular wine being testament to that. He released later vintages before this 2002 because he deemed it not ready. Beautifully concentrated aromatic flavours of lychee, rose petals and violets on the nose. The palate is full bodied with a lovely glycerine texture and some hints of apricot.
