July 22, 2012 BORDEAUX 2010 Bordeaux 2010 Pomerol / Lalande de Pomerol / Saint-Emilion / Saint-Emilion Satellites Other Regions Tasted in Bordeaux En-Primeur April 2011 Tasted on other occasions see date & place in italics Pomerol Château Beauregard 91-93 2017-30 The nose is packed with ripe black plums all very Merlot in character. The fruit on the palate is ripe giving richness in the middle and as the tannins feels ripe lush fruit fleshes out the back palate. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 92 2017-30 There is a lot of sweet ripe fruit on the nose and lots of fleshy black plums on the palate. The mid palate is supple with ripe tannins richness and depth of flavour that fills out the back palate and finish. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 92 2017-30 Sweet on the nose the palate has ripe black plum richness. The mid palate is supple the tannins ripe depth of fruit and although slightly fresher and lighter at the back the finish is full of fleshy fruit. Château Bellegrave 89-91 2017-30 The nose is rich with lots of ripe black fruits. Black plum and cassis dominate the mid palate fleshy and ripe. There are tannins in evidence but they are ripe giving a fleshy richness at the back. Château Bellevue Mondotte 85-88 2016-30 The black fruits on the nose have a herbal edge and the green character shows through on the palate. BORDEAUX 2010 July 22, 2012 Château Le Bon Pasteur 86-89 2016-30 The nose has the richness of black plum and there is flesh on the palate. The tannins are quite firm and they tend to hold back the fruit and tighten the finish. It just lacks real complexity and richness. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 89 2017-30 The nose has depth of fruit but the palate starts lighter with red fruits and bilberry under the richer black plum. The tannins are firm but not over hard and although there is sweet fruit at the back there is a lack of real complexity and concentration. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 89 2017-30 The fruit on the nose is sweet and ripe but the palate lighter with more bramble and red fruits. Although still firm in the middle there is sweetness at the back and richness coming through on the finish. Château Bourgneuf 89-92 2018-35 The mix of black fruits on the nose is lovely and rich and the powerful mix of flavours is there on the start of the palate. Towards the middle the freshness of bilberry balances the power and the layers of flavour give complexity. Château La Cabanne 88-92 2018-35 Although the nose is quite light there are attractive fragrances. Black fruits are very much in evidence but there are enough red fruits there to refresh and lift the flavours towards the back. It is not a heavyweight but has charm Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 90 2017-35 The nose is fragrant quite light with some red fruits mixed in with the black. There is more depth on the start of the palate ripe feeling tannins with the freshness of red cherry giving a lighter less concentrated feel towards the back Château Certan de May de Certan 90-93 2018-35 The nose is lush fleshy packed with ripe black fruits. The palate is meaty at the start then all fleshy supple sensuously rich with a mass of ripe plums. July 22, 2012 BORDEAUX 2010 Château La Clémence 84-87 2016-28 The nose has a hard character and grippy tannins are very much to the fore on the palate. There is some sweeter fruit towards the back but a lack of real depth. Château Clinet 90-93 2018-35 The richness of ripe black plum fleshes out the nose and gives weight on the palate. There is depth of flavour a mix of black fruits with plum and cherry tending to dominate. The tannins are firm giving structure and tending to give some dryness on the finish. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 93 2018-40 The nose is deep rich full of ripe black fruit. Black plum and blackcurrant are ripe the palate full of lush fruit the fleshiness supported by firm but ripe tannins. Sweet black fruit fills out the back palate and gives depth of flavour on the finish. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 92 2018-35 The nose has depth the richness of ripe black fruits but the start of the palate is still firm with structured tannins. It fills out in the middle ripe damsons the back palate rounded fleshy with sweetness on the finish. Clos Rene 88-91 2018-35 The nose is sweet fruited with lots of ripe damson backed by some fresher black cherry. There is a good structure from the firm tannins but the sweetness of the fruit enriches and fills out the back palate. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 91 2018-35 The nose has depth the start of the palate rich with ripe black plum but behind this bramble and black cherry give freshness a lighter feel on the back palate. The tannins are still firm the back palate quite tight yet there is sweetness beginning to show through on the finish. Tasted in Bordeaux May 2016 93 2017-35 The nose has depth the start of the palate rich with ripe black plum but behind this bramble and black cherry give freshness a lighter feel on the back palate. BORDEAUX 2010 July 22, 2012 Rich black fruits fill out the nose and give flesh on the palate. Behind the black fruited power is freshness hints of red cherry and this balances the richness. The fruit mix is there brooding with a mass of black plum towards the back giving the finish concentrated power. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 96 2018-40 The nose is full of rich ripe fruit all very black plum in character. The fruit is fleshy the tannins rounded the palate supple with voluptuous richness. There are red fruits and some bilberry in evidence which balance the concentrated richness. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 95 2018-40 Rich and ripe fruited on the nose the palate has depth fleshy black plum supported by ripe tannins. Bilberry and red fruits balance the richness but at the back there are concentrated black fruits richness sweetness and depth. Château La Croix du Casse 86-90 2018-30 Ripe black plum gives richness on the nose. There is good depth on the palate with the tannins tending to hold back the fruit and slightly close down the finish. Château La Croix de Gay 89-92 2018-35 From the nose it does not appear to be a heavyweight as red fruits tend to override the black. There is a sweeter richer feel on the mid palate the ripeness of the fruit giving flesh towards the back. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 87 2017-30 The nose is fresh quite light but with some attractive fragrances hints of violets. The fruit on the palate is sweet the ripeness helping to enrich the mid palate and give more flesh and depth on the back palate. The finish is lighter just lacking little concentration. Château Croix St Georges 86-88 2016-30 There are some attractive black fruits on the nose but acidity and firm tannins cut in and close down the sweetness. July 22, 2012 BORDEAUX 2010 It has lots of rich black fruit on the nose all very sweet. The palate is profound with concentrated black plum. Rounded tannins help the richness the layers of fruit give complexity but all of the power is balanced by freshness. The finish is long and has a charming elegance about it. Domaine de L Eglise 88-91 2018-35 The fleshy ripeness of the fruit gives power richness on both nose and palate. Black plum abounds backed by cassis and slightly fresher black cherry. There is structure although the tannins are ripe and rounded. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 92 2018-35 Sweet on the nose the palate is rich and ripe with the fleshiness of black plum. Cassis and black cherry give a fresher feel at the back the tannins are still firm but there is a lot of ripe fruit enriching the finish. Château L Eglise Clinet 94-97 2018-35 Rich ripe black fruits give depth to the nose and enrich the palate. The palate is supple and fleshy from the ripeness of the fruit and rounded tannins. It is chocolate rich at the back lots of powerful flavours yet with enough underlying freshness that balances. Château L Enclos 86-89 2016-30 Sweet fleshy ripe black plum fills out the nose and gives a rich start to the palate. Red fruit freshness is there on the mid palate but the richness of the fruit the damson plum depth of flavour gives weight to the finish. Tasted in Bordeaux December 2015 89 2015-28 Ripe black fruits the nose has depth and the palate is fleshy with ripe black plum. There is an underlying freshness lighter at the back but it fills out on the finish with hints of black truffles. Château Fayat 84-87 2015-28 The nose is rather tight with more red than black showing. The freshness on the palate holds back the fruit, gives a slight hollow and the firmness of the tannins dry the finish. Château Feytit Clinet 89-92 2017-30 www.dereksmedleymw.co.uk.... BORDEAUX 2010 July 22, 2012 There is a lot of ripe black plum on the nose and the sweetness of the fruit and ripe tannins gives a fleshy richness on the palate. There is enough freshness and structure to support the richness. Château La Fleur de Gay 87-90 2017-30 The ripe damson plum on the nose is overtaken by oak. The palate starts quite fleshy but tannic firmness takes over drying and shortening the finish. The oak is very much in evidence tending to over dominate the back palate. Château La Fleur Petrus 91-95 2018-40 Powerful flavours fill out the nose and give weight and richness on the palate. The voluptuous sweetness is balanced by firmer black cherry the freshness giving a bright feel towards the back. The back palate has depth of flavour layers of fruit and a lovely complex mix of flavours. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 95 2018-40 Profound deep concentrated black fruits the palate has a mass of ripe black plum supple and voluptuous. A touch of bramble balances and lightens with the rich ripe fruit filling out the back palate and enriching the finish. Fugue de Nenin 88-91 2017-35 The nose is sweet with black plum and blackcurrant. The ripeness of the fruit enriches the palate the fleshiness helped by rounded tannins. The flavours linger on the long finish. Château Le Gay 89-93 2018-35 Both nose and palate have black plum richness lots of sweet fruit. There are layers of flavour fleshy black fruits underpinned by some fresher red. Although the oak is a bit obvious at the moment there would seem to be enough fruit to cope. Tasted at the Château March 2014 92 2018-35 The fruit is ripe the nose full of sweet fruit and the palate fleshy supple with meaty black plum. There is mid freshness bramble and red cherry but it is the ripe black plum that fleshes out and enriches the back palate. Rich flavours fill out the mid palate lots of black plum but behind there is freshness that balances and gives brightness on the finish. There are layers of flavour giving complexity. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 93 2018-40 The nose is deep brooding black fruited with a lovely richness and ripeness. The sweetness of the fruit fills out the palate black plum and black cherry enriched by dark chocolate. There is an underlying freshness that balances the sweetness and gives a more elegant feel to finish. Tasted at the Bordeaux Grands Cru tasting London May 2014 93 2018-35 Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 Rich ripe fruit gives depth on the nose and fleshy richness on the palate. Black plum dominates the mid tannins are ripe rounded the mid palate has a fleshy suppleness. Towards the back it feels fresher with a mix of bramble and black cherry but the finish is full of ripe fleshy black plum. Château Hosanna 89-92 2018-35 The nose is surprisingly tight the ripe black fruits underpinned by fresh slightly hard red fruits. Richer sweeter fruit gives weight on the mid palate but the fresher fruit comes through towards the back giving the finish a lighter more attenuated character. L Hospitalet de Gazin 89 2017-28 Tasted at Corney & Barrow tasting October 2013 The nose is light fresh with dominant red fruits but the palate has richer sweeter fruits black plum and black cherry. There is mid complexity with a nice weight of ripe fruits filling out the back palate. Tasted at the Bordeaux Grands Cru tasting London May 2014 88 2016-26 The nose is light black fruited lacking richness and the palate at the start lacks concentration. Towards the back it feels fleshier more sweet black plum but the finish lacks a bit of depth. Château La Grave Trignant de Boisset 88-91 2018-35 Very concentrated black fruits enrich the nose and give weight on the palate. The mid palate has fresher fruits that bring out the fragrances lots of charm but with no great complexity. The fruit lasts well on the finish. BORDEAUX 2010 July 22, 2012 There is a lot happening on the nose the richness of black plum balanced by fresher bilberry and cherry. Ripe fruit fleshes out the mid palate and as the tannins are rounded they add to the fleshiness. Château Latour à Pomerol 90-94 2018-36 There is a lovely richness to the black plum that fleshes out the nose. The palate is complex savoury, meaty a mass of dark fruits. Some underlying red fruits refresh and balance lifting and lengthening the finish. Manoir de Gay 85-88 2016-28 Second wine of Château Le Gay Lots of juicy red cherry gives a fresh feel on the nose. There are sweeter flavours on the palate giving a richer feel but the freshness reappears towards the back all quite light and lacking a bit of depth. Tasted in the Carlton Club January 2016 90 2016-27 The nose has filled out richer with black fruits coming through and the palate has the fleshy suppleness of ripe fruit. Ripe black plums are backed by firmer black cherry a rich mix in the middle and although there is more bramble and bilberry at the back the finish has depth of fruit. Château Montviel 86-91 2018-35 The nose is full and fleshy packed out with slightly jammy black plum. Fresher fruit is there in the middle giving brightness and a lighter feel towards the back. The tannins are firm but not hard. Château Moulinet 84-87 2016-30 The nose is upfront sweet with lots of black fruits in evidence. The ripeness of the fruit is rather held back by firm tannins which hold back the fruit on the back palate. It lacks length and complexity. The palate is supple with lots of generous flavours there is freshness balancing but towards the back there is a touch of heat which slightly detracts from the finish. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 92 2018-30 Sweet on the nose the palate has ripe damson richness. The mid palate is still firm black cherry and structured tannins bramble freshness but it has opened up at the back with sweet fruit richness giving weight and depth on the finish. Château La Petite Eglise 90-94 2018-35 The nose although black fruited is quite fresh. There is sweetness with the richness of black plum on the palate but towards the back it feels lighter and fresher with a nice long finish. There is an elegant charm to the wine. Château Petit Village 90-94 2018-35 The nose is lush packed out with ripe black fruits. Black plum, cassis and black cherry give richness and complexity on the palate and as the tannins feel ripe and rounded there is a supple fleshiness towards the back. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 92 2018-35 The nose is lush rich fruited and this sweet fruit gives weight on the start of the palate. The mid palate seems a little lighter but the ripeness of the fruit the rounded tannins gives a fleshy suppleness towards the back. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 91 2017-30 Sweet fruit ripe lush the nose is full of black plum the palate rich and ripe fruited. In the middle there is freshness more of a bramble character and although lighter at the back the finish has sweet fruited richness. Château Petrus 96-99 2020-40 There is a lot of sweet fruit on the nose rich ripe black plum. On the palate there are lots of powerful flavours rich ripe voluptuous in the middle and power towards the back. Layers of fruit give complexity the sweetness of the black fruits balanced by the freshness of the red. The mid palate is sumptuous so rich but there is freshness at the back lifting the flavours and giving an elegant twist to the finish. There is a fleshy richness to the mid palate with the ripe fruit fleshing out the back palate. The mid palate feels lighter with an attractive mix of bilberry and bramble just a slight lack of depth but the ripe fruit is there at the back enriching and fleshing out the finish. Château Providence 89-92 2018-35 The nose is full and fat with a mass of black plum. The richness of the nose is there on the start of the palate but behind all of the fleshiness the supple rounded tannin is bilberry freshness that balances and lightens the finish. Château Rouget 88-91 2016-30 Ripe quite fleshy black plum gives richness on the nose and weight of fruit on the palate. Firm tannins are in evidence giving structure but as they feel ripe they do not hold back the fruit and stop the ripe black plum from fleshing out the back palate. Château Tour Maillet 84-87 2015-28 The nose is rather closed with quite high acidity holding back the fruit. The palate mirrors the nose the quite sweet black fruit mix held back by rather aggressive tannins and high acidity. Vieux Château Certan 96-100 2020-40 The fleshy black fruit gives richness on the nose and depth on the palate. The fruit is ripe lots of black plum backed up by dark chocolate layer upon layer of flavour giving complexity the ripeness of the fruit and rounded tannins giving voluptuous richness and suppleness lovely and sensuous. Bramble and bilberry lurk beneath giving a fresher feel at the back and the finish has a flowing elegance. Château La Violette 91-94 2018-40 Violets of the nose give it a floral charm with under the fragrances there is a powerful mix of black fruits. Ripe black plum enriches the mid palate the sweetness nicely balanced by fresher black cherry. There is a good structure from the firm tannins but the fruit power is such that it fills out the back palate. Château Vray Croix de Gay 86-89 2017-28 Ripe fleshy black plum gives richness on the nose. The palate is sweet fruited with ripe damsons and black cherries. Behind the fruit there is still a hint of the malolactic fermentation which spoils but although the tannins are firm they are ripe so not aggressively dominating the fruit to at the back. Lalande-de-Pomerol Château La Chenade 88-91 2016-30 The nose is a bit closed but at the back there is sweet fruit with a mix of black cherry and fresher red cherry. Firmer at the back structure but it opens up on the finish with a black cherry and black plum. Château Les Cruzelles 88-91 2016-30 Sweet black plum and cherry give richness on the nose and a good weight of flavour on the palate. The tannins are rounded adding suppleness and then towards the back red fruits cherry and raspberry come through lifting the flavours on the finish. Château La Fleur de Boüard 87-90 2016-30 The nose is sweet with a mix of red and black fruits. The palate starts sweet with nice ripe black fruits but the mid palate is lighter with quite firm tannins. The mix of flavours that comes through on the back palate is complex and has the richness of ripe fruit. Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard 86-89 2016-30 There is a fleshy richness on the nose with some nice sweet fruit lots of black plum. There is an underlying balancing freshness but right at the back the heat comes through all a bit too fat. Château La Gravière 85-88 2014-25 The fruit mix on both nose and palate is juicy quite sweet slightly jammy. There is a fleshy richness on the palate easy sweet fruited not complex and towards the back freshness lightens up the finish. Château Haut Chaigneau 86-89 2014-25 Tasted at the Travellers Club London May 2011 Sweet fruit gives richness on the nose and depth on the palate. It seems to be very black fruit with damson and cassis but towards the back bramble and red fruits appear. The finish is quite sweet with a fair depth. Château La Mission 89 2015-25 Tasted at the HH&C tasting May 2014 Fleshy on the nose sweet and ripe on the palate there is depth of flavour mid richness with ripe tannins adding to the suppleness. Red fruits are there at the back the finish lighter and fresher. Sweeter fruit shows on the start of the palate but then the tannins take over drying the finish. Château Angelus 1er Grand Cru Classé 92-96 2018-40 Rich ripe black fruits give depth on the nose and richness on the palate. Layers of flavour all add to the complexity and the sweetness of the fruit is well balanced by an underlying freshness. There is a firm structure but the tannins are rounded and the fruit underneath ripe and sweet. Under the richness bramble refreshes with the layers of fruit giving complexity. The tannins feel ripe the back palate and finish quite rich. There is a strong red fruit influence lots of strawberries and as the tannins are rounded sweet fruit enriches the back palate. Les Astéries Grand Cru 89-93 2018-35 Merlot 83% Cabernet Franc 17% Red fruit freshness intermingling with violets is very apparent on the nose but behind there are richer flavours all very black fruit in character. The layers of fruit bramble and back cherry underpinned by richer cassis give lots of complexity. Towards the back the fresh red fruits are backed by a racy minerality. Behind all of the richness the voluptuous power there is freshness red fruit and mineral that balances and gives elegance. The mix of flavours gives complexity and the fruit lingers long on the back palate. Clos Badon Grand Cru 83-87 2015-25 There is not a lot of sweet fruit or charm on the nose. Richer sweeter red and black fruits do show on the palate but are very quickly overtaken by firm tannins that tend to dry and shorten the finish. Château Balestard La Tonnelle Grand Cru Classé 89 2016-28 Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 The nose is sweet fruited but light with red fruited fragrances. The fruit feels ripe giving a richer middle but there is freshness towards the back giving a lighter finish. Château Côte de Baleau Grand Cru 86-89 2017-28 It feels very light with more of a red than black fruit influence. The freshness of the fruit comes through towards the back but although it lacks a bit of weight there is some nice red fruit showing on the finish. Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 1er Grand Cru Classé 90-93 2018-35 The fruit on the nose is ripe all quite fleshy. Black fruits tend to dominate the start of the palate but towards the middle there are fresher flavours which balance and add to complexity. The fruit lingers on the finish. The tannins are aggressive holding back the fruit and both alcohol and oak spoil the finish. Château Belair Monange 1er Grand Cru Classé 86-90 2018-35 The nose has some attractive quite concentrated fruit but the palate lacks a bit of depth. There is some complexity towards the back but the tannins cut in closing down and shortening the finish. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 93 2018-35 The fruit on the nose is fragrant lots of red fruits and the start of the palate is light. Richer in the middle more depth of flavour the fruit feels ripe. The mix of red cherry and bramble gives complexity the back palate lighter and the finish long and fragrant. Château Bel-Air-Ouy Grand Cru 88-91 2015-30 There are some attractive fragrances on the nose all quite fresh and red fruited. Sweet fruit gives richness on the palate but towards the back the tannins cut in rather tough so holding back some of the fruit. Château Bellevue Grand Cru Classé 89-92 2016-30 The nose has some rich fruit with more red than black showing. The palate starts sweet but freshness and tannin lighten the mid palate and slightly hold back the fruit on the finish. Château Bellevue Mondotte Grand Cru 85-89 2016-30 The black fruits on the nose have a herbal edge and the green rather vegetal character shows on the palate. Towards the back there is some sweet fruit but the tannins are very obvious and dry the end. Château Bergat Grand Cru Classé 86-90 2016-30 The nose has a mix of flavours some rich black fruits vying with fresher red for dominance. The fleshy ripeness on the palate gives it a rather over blown character and the obvious tannins dry the fruit leaving the finish dusty with alcohol showing. Château La Commanderie Grand Cru 83-86 2016-25 The tannins show on the nose holding back the fruit. It has black cherry on the palate slightly herbal with tannins coming through and drying the finish. It is all a bit dusty dry. Château La Confession Grand Cru 86-88 2016-25 The nose is firm and slightly closed. High acidity and firm tannins rather overpower the fruit and give a dry character towards the back. It just tends to lack enough sweet fruit and any richness. Château Corbin Grand Cru Classé 87 2017-28 Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 The nose is closed the start of the palate tight with firm slightly dry tannins. A touch of sweetness gives a little more weight in the middle but the tannins are very obvious at the back closing down the finish. Château Couspaude Grand Cru Classé 85-89 2016-30 The mix of red fruits on the nose is fresh fragrant but lacking a bit of depth. Sweeter richer fruit gives more weight on the mid palate but the tannins dry and give a dusty dryness on the finish. Château Dassault Grand Cru Classé 90 2017-28 Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 The nose is sweet the fruit quite rich with mainly red fruits and the mid palate has depth of flavour. Although lighter towards the back slightly fresher the finish has some sweetness. Château Daugay Grand Cru 88-91 2017-30 It is all a bit jammy on the nose but the fleshy richness is balanced on the palate by red fruit freshness. Château Haut-Simard 88-91 2018-30 Although the nose is quite tight there are some attractive sweet black fruits trying to show through. The freshness of red fruits in the middle slightly overpowers the sweeter flavours but richer flavours do come through towards the back. Château Jean Faure Grand Cru 85-88 2016-28 The nose is a bit sticky sweet but the ripeness on the palate is balanced by some fresher red fruits. The damson plum sweetness shows towards the back but the finish feels a bit dry and short. BORDEAUX 2010 July 22, 2012 The start has some quite rich fruit but behind is rather acidic red fruit. It seems very light with not much sweet fruit on the back palate. Château Le Jurat Grand Cru 85-88 2016-28 Red fruits are very much to the fore giving brightness on the nose but a slight hardness on the palate. Towards the back the tannins appear to be very obvious drying the finish and holding back the fruit. Château Laforge Grand Cru 86-89 2018-35 Merlot 82% Cabernet Franc 17% Rich ripe black plum gives lots of power on the nose and a fleshy sweetness on the palate. The mid palate is lighter quite fresh with lots of red fruits which are slightly held back by the tannic firmness that comes through towards the finish. Château Larcis-Ducasse Grand Cru 87-90 2018-35 The freshness of red fruits gives a bright feel on the nose. The palate has a good mix of flavours with red fruited fragrances. The ripeness towards the back is held in check by the tannins. Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 87 2017-28 The nose is fresh the red fruits rather held back by tannic firmness. There black fruits on the mid palate but towards the back the tannins tend to take over and hold back fruit expression. Tasted at the MW Claret tasting Vintners Hall November 2014 87 2017-28 The fruit on the nose is fresh the start of the palate lacks richness and depth of flavour. The mix of red and black fruits tends to be overpowered by tannic firmness the finish fresh and quite short. Château Larmande Grand Cru Classé 88 2016-28 Tasted at the UGCB tasting Royal Opera House November 2012 The nose is quite rich with more of a black fruited influence. The ripeness of the fruit gives sweetness to the mid palate and although towards the back it is fresher the finish has richness and fair depth. July 22, 2012 BORDEAUX 2010 It is very firm on both nose and palate all very red fruited without a great deal of sweetness. The firm tannins overtake the fruit and dry the finish. Lynsolence Grand Cru 84-87 2016-25 It is very fat rat hot with fleshy fruit on the palate. The tannins are grippy there is the feeling of over extraction and the finish is all too short Clos Madelaine Grand Cru 85-88 2017-28 Raspberry is backed by black fruits the freshness balancing the sweeter character. The tannins feel quite firm rather holding back full fruit expression and tending to dry the finish. Château Magdelaine 1er Grand Cru Classé 88-90 2017-35 The richness of the black fruits is balanced by red fruited freshness. Ripe tannins add to the sweetness on the mid palate but towards the back there is enough freshness to give a lift to the finish. Château Magrez Fombrauge Grand Cru 85-88 2015-25 It is inky black with sticky sweet fruit on both nose and palate. The mid tannins are firm but not too aggressive and over extracted so do not totally overpower the fruit. Château Monbousqet Grand Cru Classé 89-91 2016-30 The nose is a bit reserved with the acidity tending to hold back the fruit. There is sweetness in the middle all quite rich but rather aggressive tannins tend to dominate hold back the fruit and drying the finish at the moment. Towards the back there are richer ripe flavours underpinning. La Mondotte Grand Cru Classé 93 2018-28 Tasted at the Bordeaux Grands Cru tasting London May 2014 Black fruits dominate the nose has depth and the palate a powerful mix of flavours. Ripe fruit gives mid sweetness the fine tannins all adding to the fleshy suppleness. Although slightly fresher at the back the finish has all the richness of ripe black plum.
