Frank Marchiano attributes his success to recipes created over a generation ago. His mother, Nunziata, a native of a small village in southern Italy called Acri, located in the region of Calabria, used to bake breads in the basement of her little row house in the very European neighborhood of Philadelphia known as Manayunk. Dear Book Lovers, SPN s Scholastic Book Fair, Wild West Book Fair will be open from October 10th through October 13 th. We re looking forward to seeing you there. It will be held in the multi-purpose room and the library. The fair is open from 7:45am to 3:45 pm. The book fair is also on-line. The link is on my part of the school s website. Books will be sent to school (free shipping) We will be participating in the All for Books program again this year. See the All For Books Challenge sheet in this week s communication for details. All the money you donate stays in your child s classroom library. Scholastic will give a matching donation to non-profit programs devoted to improving reading skills. Kids Helping Kids We are collecting can tabs for Shriners Hospital. The Shriners will recycle them to raise money for the children in their hospital. Containers will be located in each homeroom to collect the tabs. Thank you for helping. This will be an on-going project.

It s time for Girls on the Run at St. Philip Neri! Calling all 3rd to 5th grade girls! The Girls on the Run experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates movement and running consists of two 90-minute sessions every week February May. We encourage families to register ONLY if their child can participate BOTH days each week for the full lesson. Online registration is open Nov 1 through Dec 13, 2017. The amount of girls per team is limited. Therefore, some teams may require a lottery to be run for the Spring 2018 season. We strive to have every girl participate in our program regardless of ability to pay. Registration Fee $175. Financial aid application available at www.gotrpa.org.
