Hideaway Resort Máncora PERU Press Kit 2014
A Personal Story In 1989, when Peru s political situation was critical, Cristina Gallo, her husband and two children decided to leave Lima and start over life in Máncora, a small fisher and surf town on the North shore, which was yet left to be discovered by the rest of the world. Cristina s land was located 3km outside of the village and right on the sandy beach. With no neighbors for several kilometers, no current electricity, only kerosene refrigerators and many other standard infrastructures unavailable, they knew it was not going to be easy. Yet they were full of inspiration for a change. And the family ended up falling in love with the peaceful and calm nature of the area. Ten years later (1999) the family was forced to leave due to a strong hit of the El Niño current. The husband decided to accept a job abroad and so Cristina and her family now with five children, the youngest only a month old started a new adventure, which was to travel the world. Over the next few years they should live in Sydney, Guatemala, Costa Rica and also Chile. Yet, what truly remained in Cristina s mind as home, was Máncora. When finally returning to Peru, Cristina had it clear: She wanted return to Mancora, with the mission to transform her house there and open it house to guests. The now hotel project was inspired by the idea of creating a space that could be devoted to resting the body-mind-soul, and eventually open up to new experiences and change. I want to create awareness for healthy lifestyle, through organic cuisine, meditation and yoga, zen and cosy interiors and loads of green gardens and good music, she says. KiCHIC should become an oasis for those - in need for change in their routine - looking for an encounter with himself - who enjoy savage and wild spaces - seeking peace and quiet - considering themselves nature lovers KiCHIC official opened in January 2014
Mancora & the area Mancora is one of Peru s most popular yet at the same time most secret beach destinations. Located on the North Coast of Peru, the village benefits of an exceptional microclimate, with 360 days per year sunshine and basically no rain. The summer season starts in December through to March, then temperatures can get up to 35 C. All year round there is very comfortable wind and the water temperature always is mild to warm. Mancora s 5 000 inhabitants are most living from fishing or tourism. The Hotel is conveniently located 4km from the town centre in a more exclusive and beautiful sandy beach zone called Las Pocitas. Transportation is by mototaxi or as well by foot by beach. Mancora s sporty and nature ambiance offer a vast range of activities (surfing, kitesurfing, diving, snorkelling, kayaking..) and discovery tours (turtle or whale watching, desert rides, Mangrove forest etc.) Travelling to Mancora requires a half-day trip from Lima. From Lima daily flights go out to Piura, Tumbes or Talara and from there by road (Piura 2,5hr, Tumbes 1,5hr, Talara 45min).

Cristina Gallo has not studied in this field yet she has been an artist all her life, collecting and transforming materials such as wood, paper, stone, iron etc. Restaurant Starting off only with a Vegetarian Menu, which was coherent to our concept of healthy and organic lifestyle, we have decided in August 2014 to introduce a second Cuisine, of Seafood, to vary our offer. Our Vegetarian Cuisine is a based Peruvian product, of course depending on seasonality and local offer. We adore quinoa and as such it take big role in our dishes. As well, we only offer whole-wheat rice and homemade bread. Some of our vegetables and herbs are home grown. The vegetarian menu offers a vast mix of popular dishes such as; salads, raw starters, homemade pizza and pasta, Veggie burgers and soups. The Seafood Bar is proposing about ten dishes of cooked and raw fish and seafood, prepared traditionally or more exotically by our Peruvian Chef. Common fish here are tuna, whitefish, lobster and shrimps. We prepare the Ceviche, Tiradito, Carpaccio etc. as well as fish in banana leaf, curry, and grilled sesame tuna. Accompanied always with something light such as fresh papaya salad, coconut milk, quinoa risotto, for example. To eat is a necessity, to eat intelligently is an art
