VITICULTURE & ENOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION & INSTRUCTIONS The Department of Viticulture & Enology pleased to be able to offer scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students. In order to be selected as a scholarship recipient, students must meet University requirements, satisfy the requirements made by the donor of the particular scholarship (descriptions attached), and be recommended by the Department of Viticulture & Enology Scholarship Committee. Deadline for submission of COMPLETE application packet: FEBRUARY 12, 2007 COMPLETE PACKET INCLUDES 1. Application form (sign). 2. Scholarship/Fellowship Selections. 3. Statement of Intent 4. GUILD WINERIES & DISTILLERIES SCHOLARSHIP: Award to an undergraduate in good standing who will be entering their junior or senior year of study and who shows a keen interest in a career in the California wine industry. LE RÊVE SCHOLARSHIP: Award to a graduate student pursuing studies in enology with an emphasis on white wines and/or champagnes. MKF WINE BUSINESS EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP: Award to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing studies in viticulture & enology. MONK: Paul Monk Scholarship: Award to a graduate student working in the field of yeast microbiology and functional genetics. NORMAN: Haskell F. Norman Wine & Food: Award to an outstanding student in viticulture & enology. OLMO: Harold P. Olmo Scholarship: Award to graduate or undergraduate students in viticulture. ORANGE COUNTY WINE SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP: Award to upper division students in enology or viticulture who intend to pursue a career in California at a bonded winery or working for a commercial grape grower. RHONE RANGERS: Awarded to a student in the Department. of Viticulture & Enology with a strong interest in crafting high quality Rhone variety wines. ROSSI PRIZE: Award to a student who graduated from a high school in the Napa Valley and is pursuing studies in viticulture or enology. STAUB: Rusty Staub Endowed Fellowship: Award to graduate students who are, or were residents of New York. TRIBUNO: Mario P. Tribuno Memorial Research Fellow: Award to a graduate student conducting research on grape and wine aroma and flavors as affected by vineyard or winery treatment. WEBB: Brad Webb Memorial Scholarship: Award to any outstanding graduate or undergraduate enology student. WIESNER: William J. Wiesner Memorial Scholarship: Award to outstanding students in viticulture & enology. WINE SPECTATOR CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP: Award to outstanding students in viticulture and enology. WINKLER: Pearl and Albert J. Winkler Scholarship in Viticulture: Award to students who have stated the intention of entering the grape or wine industry with preference to undergraduate viticulture students.

STATEMENT OF INTENT Name (type name) Type a statement of intent as it relates to a future career in the wine or grape industry. Identify your interests in the wine or grape industry or in related research. Elaborate on how you became interested in and what efforts you have made to become familiar with the industry and/or research. Please limit this statement to one page.

STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING Please read and sign the following statement and return with application packet. Failure to complete and return with application packet will cause application packet to be rejected. In signing this statement, I understand that unless notification is given immediately to the Department as to a change in my student status (i.e., PELP, and/or additional employment), I will be in jeopardy of losing my entire scholarship, fellowship, Research Assistantship, or Teaching Assistantship. NOTE: Students are required to enroll in at least 12 units in the quarter they receive an award. There is a $5,000 maximum per quarter disbursement limit. I understand that if my singed and complete application packet is not received by February 12, 2007, the application will NOT be considered for a scholarship. Applicant Signature: Date:
