We tasted all the Merlot terroir components and the Cabernet Franc seperately before we tasted the actual blend. The sandy soils with clay and gravel offered mixed red fruits and spice. Warmer. The clay was riper and more complex with a fine feel. The deep gravel: sweeter and richer with more red fruit. The Cabernet Franc was more herbal and almost Loire-like in its weight and feel. The actual assemblage offered darker, softer juicy red fruit with earth and a bit of spice. More alive. very interesting.
