There is sweet fruit at the back but the finish is lacking in depth and richness. Domaine de l Amandine Séguret Côtes du Rhône 2007 86 2011-13 Tasted at the Ellis tasting London February 2011 It is very light quite fragrant with a mix of red and black fruits. Côtes du Rhône 2010 91 2013-19 Tasted at Lincoln s Inn January 2013 The fruit feels ripe with black fruits tending to dominate both nose and start of the palate. There is a mid palate freshness bilberry and bramble but it fills out towards the back with ripe flavours and richness of fruit on the finish. The character and the peppery spice make it a better partner for the richer meat dishes. August 23, 2012 RHÔNE Vin de Pays de Vaucluse 2009 86 2011-15 Tasted at the Middle Temple March 2010 The nose is a bit misleading as it feels sweet with some rich black plum and black cherry. The acidity cuts in on the palate, the tannins are firm over dominating and they tighten up the finish. Côtes du Rhône 2009 86 2011-15 Tasted at the Middle Temple March 2010 It is very youthful with fresh red fruits dominating the nose. The firmness of the tannins and the very obvious acidity hold back fruit and shorten the finish. Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne 2009 89 2011-16 Tasted at the Middle Temple March 2010 The fruit feels ripe and the black fruits that show on the nose enrich and flesh out the palate. RHÔNE August 23, 2012 Vacqueyras 2009 87 2013-17 Tasted at the Carlton Club January 2013 The fruit on the nose is light fresh quite fragrant with a red fruit influence. The ripe fruit on the mid palate tends to be held back by firm tannins and these dry the finish which has a lack of fruit depth. Domaine des Amphores Chavanay Syrah les Iris 2011 86 2013-18 Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes Tasted at Charles Taylor March 2013 There is not a lot of fruit showing on the nose and the palate is lacking in depth of fruit. August 23, 2012 RHÔNE Although the nose is quite firm fruit does push through and is very much in evidence on the palate. It is not that concentrated but has a floral charm. Côtes du Rhône 2009 89 2011-15 Tasted in Lilley September 2011 The black fruits on the nose are backed by herbal spiciness and this shows through on the palate. The mid palate is firm with slightly obvious tannins which are tending to dry and give a leaner feel to the red fruited finish. Côtes du Rhône Grande Resèrve 2007 88 2010-14 Tasted in Lilley April 2009 The rich mix of black fruits gives weight on the nose and flesh on the palate. Ripe tannins help the fleshiness coming from the lovely rich mix of ripe fruits. Towards the back there is the spiciness of black pepper and a racy herbal touch to the fruit.
