A small amount of natural unflavored dry gelatin is added to the hams and picnics before sealing to absorb the natural juices during cooking. Upon cooling, the gelatin "sets". Heat hams and picnics with gelatin but remove gelatin before serving cold. This unused gelatin can be kept in the refrigerator to be used at a later date for seasoning sauces and gravies. Armour canned meats are processed to pasteurization temperature and require refrigeration. They are labeled" PERISHABLE- KEEPREFRIGERATED' '. They are vacuum sealed in metal or plastic containers and may be refrigerated unopened up to 12 months. Onceopened, tightly wrap unused portion in plastic wrap; refrigerate up to 1 week. Freezing is not recommended as it causes flavor and texture changes. Heating instructions are included on all products.
