August 2015 Hello Wildwood Elementary School Families, We are excited to announce that WWPO will be offering a delicious hot lunch every day of the week at the elementary campus with a new vendor, Organic Kids LA. Organic Kids LA offers 100% organic fresh fruits and veggies among other sustainable, healthy foods. In addition, the buffet-style meals are eaten off of reusable trays, reducing our carbon footprint. Lisa Rotundi, President of Organic Kids LA, will pay close attention to nutritional needs as well as any food allergies your child has. Their office staff is available to answer any of your questions. They are not a peanut-free kitchen, but Organic Kids LA assures us there is no cross contamination of nuts, gluten, or dairy to other foods. Menus are posted two months in advance. There is a new ordering process for hot lunch described on pages 3-5 of this handout. Families can start ordering on Aug. 17 and hot lunch begins Sept. 8, 2015. We take our job very seriously and are always here if you need us with questions, comments etc. ABOUT ORGANIC KIDS LA Organic Kids LA believes that feeding children healthy and delicious REAL food is one of the most important things we can do as a society. Children should have access to nutritious meals that they actually want to eat! Our food is created from top quality ingredients and made with great care and love. Most of our food is made from scratch. From our applesauce, hummus and ranch dressing to our pizza dough and sauces. Our meats come from NON GMO fed animals that have never been exposed to pesticides or antibiotics. We use Mary s free roaming chickens and grass fed beef. We strive to use only ingredients that are ORGANIC and/or NON GMO certified as well as much locally grown fruits and vegetables as possible. Again, please don t hesitate to reach out if you need us. HOW TO ORDER Go go our website and create an account: www.organickidsla.com LUNCH SIZES We offer 3 sizes for different appetites: $6 small (we recommend this for our littlest preschoolers or very small eaters) $7 medium (most common) $8 large (for bigger kids or obviously kids with bigger appetites). LUNCH OPTIONS Organic Kids LA has several daily options for lunch: Chef s Special: will always be a meal that includes meat. Chef Special 2: will always be a vegetarian option. Chef s Special Hot: the same every day, plain buttered noodles with a side of veggies (feel free to request Parmesan cheese) Daily Salad: These are delicious, kid friendly and more popular than you might think - which we love. Bento Box. Here we offer you the chance to create your own COLD meal. We have a long list of what we call sides, things like a half turkey sandwich, applesauce, veggies and ranch, side of chicken breast, side of cheese and crackers etc. When you select the bento box, after clicking the GREEN BUTTON that says place order, a drop down menu will appear that gives you the list of side with some square boxes next to them. You will choose: 3 sides for a small 4 sides for a medium 5 sides for a large If you want say, a full sunflower butter and jelly sandwich you can choose 2 sides of the half sandwich. *Please remember that everything in this meal is cold, this includes the sides of pasta.
-- Allergies and Special Requests: If your child has allergies OR special dietary needs, we do our best to accommodate them. We currently offer gluten free bread and gluten free pasta for no extra charge. If you have any questions about a certain menu item, please contact us. Cold Pressed Juices $4 Organic Kids LA has a wonderful partnership with Renew Juicery who we have found make the best Cold Pressed Juice in town! To help cover the cost of this we charge a $10 reusable box fee in September and again at the beginning of January. HOW TO BUY
We use a credit system, which is a little different than other lunch companies. Each lunch credit = $1. After you create an account with us, you can then purchase lunch credits. Pick any amount of credits you like, you can always go back and buy more! A FEW POLICIES We encourage everyone to order at least a month in advance. Our menus are posted usually 2 months in advance. Orders can be placed on your end up to 8:00 PM the evening prior. After 8:00pm, if you need to make any changes, cancelations, or to place an order, you must email us at customersupport@organickidsla.com and we will make the changes for you. We have a firm cut off time of 7:30 am the morning of for any last minute changes, cancelations, orders, etc. Last minute orders on the morning of will be charged a $2.00 surcharge. Any last minute requests after 7:30 am are not guaranteed, but we know emergencies do happen and we will do our best to accommodate if we can. We want your ordering process to go smoothly.
