Voyageur Dan Leonard of Voiture 201 is sworn as the Grand Chef de Gare for the 2015-2016 year. Grand Correspondant Hank Kwiatkowski presents Grand Chef de Gare Dan Leonard with his new Chapeau. Bonjour Fellow Voyageurs Militaire, I have had the GREAT Honor of being Your Chef de Gare of the Great State of de la Louisiana for the past year of 2014/2015, I would like to thank each and every Voiture that achieved 100% on membership for their hard work. There are ONLY 4 Locales who have not got the 100% and only like 1-3 and should be able to get those if they tired. This has to be done by the 31st of July so PLEASE try to obtain this GOAL. Once again Thanks for the HONOR an FAITH that you placed in me for this past year, I only hope that I have done my VERY best for the Great State de la Louisiana in all my efforts. Now you will have a new Grand Chef de Gare in September who was sworn in July 19th by our own Passe National Chef de Chemin de Fer Hank Kwiatkowski with his line of officers. I hope you will work with the new Chef as well as you have done with me, and I am positive you will do this for the betterment of Voyageur Locales and Grand. If I can help you in any way please call on me. Thanks again for all you're support for it was and is appreciated. MERCI to you all, Paul Strange Grand Chef de Gare Passe The Cajun Link July, 2015 (Summer) Page 2

Submission of Program Reports for Grand Awards Trophy and Awards Committee We just finished our Grande Voiture de la Louisianne Promenade in Lafayette and The Trophy and Awards Committee was really disappointed in the number of reports received from our locales. We know of the great work on all of La Societe s Programs that our locales continue to perform but WE NEED YOUR REPORTS to determine a winner in each category. We know locales work the Nurses Training, Membership, Child Welfare, Box Car, Voiture Activities, Americanism, and Flags for First Graders Programs. The Cajun Link July, 2015 (Summer) Page 6

Bush, La. 70431 Home (985) 892-7515 Cell (985) 373-3305 halbonsharp@charter.net Once again Grand du Louisiana has had an exciting and successful year in the National Box Car Association s program thanks to the many hard working and dedicated Voyageurs of our Grand. On the National Quota/Goals Report, Louisiana stands at $2,493.00 or 107.25% of Quota. Grand du Louisiana is also at 156.4% of Goal or $3.28 percapita. Coin sales of NBCA Commemorative Coin series total 187 and will add another $1870 to bring the 2015 year-end totals for Grand du Louisiana to $4363. Some statistics that should be of interest to you are as follows: A) Grand du Louisiana has 21 Voiture Locales. B) Of these Voitures, 17 are recorded as participating members of the Box Car Association. C) This year there are 14 Locales that have achieved the $2 per-capita or better established by the National Box Car Association. D) There were 14 Locales at 100% on Crew Cards this year, in other words one Crew Card for each member. E) An over-all per-capita breakdown is as follows: No. Locales achieving under $2 per-capita were 3. No. Locales achieving per-capita of $2 - $3 were 5. No. Locales achieving per-capita of $3 - $4 were 1. No. Locales achieving per-capita of $4 - $6 were 5. No. Locales achieving per-capita of Over $6 were 3. Our Grand Box Car program has had an absolutely unbelievable year for 2015 and I extend my utmost gratitude for a job well done to all those dedicated Voyageurs Militaire who helped make it happen. I will also tell you that on the National Reports the per-capita of Grand du Louisiana will change at the end of July when the sales report for Box Car Coins is tabulated. The Cajun Link July, 2015 (Summer) Page 8
Our per-capita should rise to $5.45, due to the outstanding support of the coin program in this Grand. MERCI. The 2016 Pins and Cards consignments for all participating Locales are ready to be picked-up with the numbers calculated by last year s performance. However these numbers may be adjusted up or down based upon the Locales request. A number of Locales have already picked up theirs with some having already paid for them, so we are off to a great start. The 2016 Box Car Pin will be the third issue in the Shadow Train Pin Series and features the 50 th Anniversary Locomotive design. When this five Pin series is complete you will have a complete Train that is exactly like the coins except on a smaller scale and in a Pin series. Be sure and let all your members know about this Shadow Train series which will be yours if you purchase your annual Box Car Pins. This year the National Box Car Association is unveiling the 5 th and final issue of the NBCA Commemorative Coin Series. It will feature the Caboose on the face and a great depiction of a Hobo Clown on the back along with a most fitting tribute to the National Hobos Association. I think it is the most unique and prettiest coin of the Series. You don t want to miss this one, it is a beauty. For more information you will find my article and pictures in the Summer edition of the Forty and Eighter Magazine. Look for it.
