A WEEKEND OF SPORT, FOOD AND CULTURE (3 giorni / 2 notti) DAY ONE Arrival in the City of Tricolor: Reggio Emilia. Why not starting with a unique and enchanting experience? Perhaps visiting the eleventh edition of Fotografia Europea? An international photography event that this year will be focused on the Via Emilia, the major Roman road that runs from the Po river to the Adriatic Sea. Visiting the most important places of the local territory and the venues that host the exhibitions in program, you can discover Chiostri di San Pietro, an architectural jewel of mannerism, and the prestigious exhibition venue Palazzo Magnani Foundation. The roads of photography, its borders, its frontiers and its transits from the Via Emilia to all the other roads in the world all narrated by images. Also this year the focus will be on the photography as a privileged tool to think about the complexity of contemporary society. A wide-ranging reflection on modern imageregarding not only the photographers, but also intellectuals, artists, philosophers and writers.
After a day dedicated to culture, why not considering some sports entertainment? Have a chance to watch the UEFA Women's Champions League Final 2015/2016 that this year will take place in Reggio Emilia the 26th of May on Thursday at Stadio Città del Tricolore home of US Sassuolo Calcio and AC Reggiana 1919. (Tickets not included. Available from authorized sellers). The historical heritage of Reggio Emilia must be followed by local flavours. A typical dinner will welcome you in one of the temples of emilian cuisine. A traditional restaurant, the perfect location for a gourmet. Parmigiano-Reggiano, one of the most ancient cheeses known, produced today as eight centuries ago, with the same ingredients, the same technique and the same artisanal care and passion. It s the casaro that with his own hands, sensitivity and experience, create the forma (the wheel). We will closely see and breathe the celebration of this product, living a direct experience in a cheese factory. We will see the process and of course we will taste the King of cheeses, in different ageing.
The gastronomic journey will continue in the shadow of a wonderful acetaia, where the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia DOP ages in wooden barrel. Drop by drop, we will discover the secrets of this unique product that brings with him all the flavor and the atmosphere of the Emilian land. We will continue our trip with a tasting of the company s products, followed by a typical light lunch from Reggio Emilia, with all the magic of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, refined for at least 12 years. Coming back to the city, we can have a free visit for some shopping in the historical centre. Reggio Emilia is also known for its most beautiful kindergartens in the world and for its amazing modern and ancient architectures. We can dive into the dense little streets and stop to look at the gromae locus on via Emilia San Pietro, representing its origins from Ancient Rome.
Not to miss is a visit to Piazza Prampolini, known by the locals as Piazza Grande, with the Torrente Crostolo Statue. A must is a visit at the Cathedral and at the Baptistery. From here, going through the Broletto portico, we get to the little Piazza San Prospero that host the city market and where you can visit the church. Piazza Fontanesi deserves a visit too, the lounge of Reggio Emilia, that host the wonderful farmer market on Saturday morning.you can also visit Madonna della Ghiara church, authentic evidence of Emilian baroque, where you can admire precious works of art like Guercino s Crucifixion, and the City Theatre. DAY THREE Along Via Emilia, land of automotive, we will visit one of the most important and charming collection dedicated to the Tridente : the Umberto Panini Collection. Here are preserved 19 of the most important vintage cars of the history of Maserati, symbol of Italian excellence all over the world.
Lunch at leisure having a chance to deeply explore the gastronomic excellence typical of this land. Between Reggio and Modena, looking at the first hills going up on the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano, we will find this little corner of absolute gastronomic excellence. We will visit an historical wine cellar, where the owners live by generations, willing to tell their deep passion to the visitors. We will discover the history of the territory and the wine industry that characterize it, tasting its peculiarity and enjoying its flavors. After the explanation of the grapevine cultivation techniques you can touch with hands and taste what was told by words! Go with the tasting! Departure Stay with us, in the afternoon, to take part at Reggio Emilia Color Run! The 28th of May, after the starting fire, the partecipants will pass through one of the five color checkpoint every kilometer. They will be covered with a 100% natural colored powder. Big fun!
