CWWA 2017 Conference Tours Berbice Tour Cross the Berbice River on one of the world s longest floating bridges to visit the Queenstown Water Treatment Plant to observe the treatment process which utilises sand filtration technology. Finally, stop off at the Hope Canal to witness one of Guyana s largest coastal drainage and irrigation system which allows excess water from the East Coast Demerara Water Conservancy to be drained into the Atlantic Ocean via an eight-door sluice. Demerara Tour Take a quick stop at the Ruimveldt Water Treatment Plant then proceed to visit a Wastewater Treatment Plant of Banks DIH Limited, a local beverage company. Finally, conclude with a tour of the Demerara Distillers Limited and learn the history of a group of sugar estates merged into one company and have a sample of the famous El Dorado Rum. Essequibo Tour Travel across the Demerara River via one of the world s longest floating bridges and take a quick stop off at the Pouderoyen Water Treatment Plant to observe its treatment process. Taking a boat ride across from Parika to Bartica, tour the Bartica Water Treatment Plant and observe its surface water treatment process. Concluding the tour, visit the Fort Island which boasts of the best preserved built evidence of Dutch settlement in Guyana and tour of the Dutch Heritage Museum.
