SYNAROME STORY The origins of FRAYSSE dynasty Switzerland, Geneva area At the end of the 19th century, Claude FRAYSSE, a chemical engineer, founded a chemical company for fragrance industry focusing on Ionones and derivatives. When the plant burnt to the ground, Claude FRAYSSE continued his career in the United States. In 1919, he returned to France where he worked as a perfumer and consultant at Yardley and Weil. Synarome Founding France In 1926, Claude FRAYSSE s son, Hubert, started Synarome in Paris suburbs (Asnières) where the most famous Fragrance Houses were already located. Famous specialities: the real identities of fragrances Assisted by his brother George, they developed many specialities, among others some of the famous natural raw materials substitutes: Ambrarome Absolute - marketed in 1926 in order to replace Ambergris infusion (biliary secretion of the intestines of the sperm whale); Muscarome - a substitute of Tonkin Musk and also Animalis - a speciality midway between Costus and Tonkin Musk. Some natural derivative products issued from Synarome know-how participate to bases creation and innovation. Innovative chemical Research The company s distinctive feature is to produce its own specific chemical raw materials in order to create innovative specialities and fragrances. Famous chemists contributed to Synarome development : Jean IGOLEN (Institut Pasteur) created and improved the production of around ten commodities like Isobornyl Isobutyrate and Tetrahydroionol; Marcel FETIZON (CNRS) patented Cis-jasmone in 1969. Innovation continued with the patenting of Scentolide (Cis-Isoambrettolide) a macrolactone with a sophisticated smell. Fine Fragrance compositions The third brother André, meanwhile, created fragrances for Lanvin and became one of the House perfumers. Through Synarome factory, he manufactured these prestigious Lanvin fragrances. 4

SYNAROME STORY Synarome sites around Paris Synarome moved in the early 50s to the «castle» of Bois-Colombes previously owned by the Fragrance House De Luzy where the creation studio stayed as far as 2002. The production was kept in Asnières until it moved to Chartres in 1974. Synarome joined NACTIS 2006 was a pivotal year for Synarome : the beginning of a new era. The FRAYSSE family sold the company to NACTIS Group. NACTIS enables Synarome to expand into the international Flavors and Fragrances industry and the R&D team was installed in the production site in Chartres. Under the guidance of Nactis R&D, the manufacturing of raw materials for flavor industry has been developing at Chartres since 2012. These new products complete our catalog which already contains around 200 references. 5

PRODUCTS RANGE NACTIS proposes around 200 aroma chemicals and specialities, both historical or modern, for the Flavor and Fragrance industry. 60% of the products are aroma chemicals coming from our own chemical synthesis, coupled with our know how in natural treatments. 40% of them are specialities formulated with these products and our imagination. Some are figurative, some are definitively abstract and all are inspired by you. Legend : Speciality Aroma chemical P & N Pure and Natural 7
