Rapha Virgin Coconut Oil A Product of Dominica Presented by: Mr. Delbert Telemaque Production Manager 1(767)616-2166
OUR PRODUCT BMC Rapha Virgin Coconut Oil is extracted from mature coconuts without the use of deodorization, heat, bleaching, additives or any other chemical processing, making it natural. Our product comes from Fresh Dominican Matured Coconuts
PRIMARY MATERIAL REQUIRED
1 Litre = 17 Matured Coconuts It is assumed that to produce 1 litre of Virgin Coconut Oil, 7 kg of dehusked coconut is required which is around 17 Matured Coconuts.
OUR PROCESSING METHOD The main difference between ordinary coconut oil and Virgin Coconut Oil is the process of extraction. Rapha Virgin Coconut Oil is produced using the Cold Process Method. No heat is applied during extraction. The absence of heat during extraction is very important, because this preserves the lauric acid and the medium chain triglycerides content of the oil.
STEP 1: DEHUSKING OF COCONUTS Dehusking: Husk is removed manually. Husked Coconuts are usually bought from Coconut Farmers.
STEP 2: DESHELLING OF HUSKED COCONUTS Deshelling involves the removal of the brown shell from the husked nut in order to free the fresh kernel. We do this with the use of a Deshelling Machine. The machine allows for Two (2) Factory Worker to Deshell at a time.
STEP 3: Washing and Cutting of Nuts This process is done Manually. Coconuts are cut into 4-8 pieces for processing through the Grinding Machine The brown skin is NOT removed
STEP 4: Grinding Grinding The pieces of coconut kernel is grinded into grated / shredded coconut. An factory worker is required to feed the pieces into the machine during the grinding process.
STEP 5: Milk Extraction/ Separation Milk extraction/ Separation After grating or shredding the fresh kernels, the milk is extracted using the Milk Extracting Machine. Extracted coconut milk is then left to settle in a 2:1 ratio solution for a designated amount of time and temperature
STEP 6: Filtration of Virgin Coconut Oil This coconut milk is placed into fermenting containers and left to sit for separation. The cream rises to the top, the oil in the middle and the water at the bottom. Filtration of the oil the oil is separated from the cream and water manually
STEP 6: Packaging and Storage Packaging and Storage -- Glass Bottles are used for packaging. The most appropriate packaging for Virgin Coconut Oil is glass bottles in tropical climates and wide mouthed glass jars in temperate climates. This is especially important if the VCO is to be sold in stores where it might stay on the shelves for long periods
Shelf Life Our Virgin Coconut Oil has a shelf life of 3 years. The Oil does not easily oxidize and also has inherent antimicrobial properties. Do not contaminate with other foods and materials. Keep the container where you keep the oil clean. If food drops into the oil it will begin to ferment or mold. Our Virgin Coconut Oil is stable and does not require refrigeration.
Quality Control We maintain Quality Control to ensure that our product is safe for consumers and maintains quality and consistency. SOME AREAS INCLUDE: COCONUT SELECTION We purchase FRESH, MATURED COCONUTS Coconuts are carefully examined. Coconuts are rejected if they are cracked, growing or have an odour.

DOMINICA COCONUT PRODUCERS NETWORK By Webster Marie PRESENTATION FOR COCONUT NICHE PRODUCTS WORKSHOP 14-16 DECEMBER 2016 TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
CALIBISHIE AGRO PROCESSORS
COCONUT OIL PROCESSING IN DOMINICA My presentation is based on virgin coconut oil and heated processed oil. The old fashion way is maintained in this process. 25 dried nuts are selected and peeled by hand. The nuts are cracked open by hand and a knife is used to get the coconut from the shell. It is then washed and placed in a large container for grinding.
GRINDING PROCESS
GRINDING PROCESS In the blender, water is added to the coconut for better grinding and then placed into a strainer to drain the milk out. The remainder in the strainer is placed in another container for squeezing the excess milk. What is placed in the processor is with no water but water is added to the remains for squeezing or passed through a blender again for a find grinding.
GRINDING PROCESS
SKIMMING PROCESS The milk is then strained with a cloth to prevent any particles and then placed into a container The liquid is left to stay overnight covered in a container or leave to rest for 6-8 hours before skimming.
SKIMMING PROCESS
SKIMMING PROCESS The cream is seen at the top of the container. A spoon is used to scoop the cream and place into a container for boiling or heated process. Under the cream is the pure oil from the coconut known as the pure virgin oil. A spoon is used to gently scoop the oil without getting water into the oil which is directly under.
FILTERING PROCESS
FILTERING PROCESS The oil is then pured into a filter which is made by using a funnel and cotton filter buds or a cloth
FINAL PROCESS After the filter is done you bottle in your respective size bottles and ready for use. 25 nuts gave 1bottle 750 ml of virgin coconut oil and 1 bottle 750 ml of heated coconut oil.
