The expression of one of the most famous high-altitude hillside terroirs in the Valpolicella Classica district and the jewel in the crown of the Cantina Privata Boscaini range, the 2007 vintage of this fabulous cru wine has been awarded: the Super Tre Stelle from Veronelli, 96/100 points from Daniele Cernilli s Essential Guide, and, together with Costasera Amarone Riserva 2011, 5 Grappoli from Bibenda. This Amarone, produced on the historic Château estate owned by the Counts Serego Alighieri, was presented at the New York Wine Experience by Raffaele Boscaini as part of Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wine tasting, the most sought-after tasting for international wine professionals and enthusiasts in the annual exhibition of wines put on by the famous American magazine to celebrate international wine excellence. For years, coming to the NYWE has been a must for Masi; we have always been selected as participants, proving how essential Amarone has become to the top table of wine. This prestigious verdict comes from James Suckling, one of the most influential journalists and wine critics in the world, who ranks Masi s wine at number 59 in his classification, the first of only two wines from the Veneto in The top wines of 2016 list. No fewer than 10,000 wines were tasted by Suckling to compile the list and 26 Italian wines made it to the top, including 11 from Tuscany, 9 from Piedmont, and, as we mentioned, 2 from the Veneto. For Raffaele Boscaini, Marketing Director of Masi: The success of Campolongo di Torbe 2009 in Suckling s list is validation for the idea of cru wines that Masi pioneered in Italy starting in the 1950s, having realised even then the quality potential for wines coming from a single vineyard. The cru for this Amarone dates back to 1958 and is the ultimate expression of one of the finest terroirs of Valpolicella Classica. This wine belongs to our 'liquid treasures collection', the Cantina Privata Boscaini, together with other crus such as Mazzano, produced in limited quantities and only in the best vintages jet cup 2016 The 10th edition of the Jet Cup, the competition to find the best sommelier for Italian wine in Japan, has just finished at the Italian Institute for Culture in Tokyo. The winner is Wataru Yano, sommelier at the famous La Tenda Rossa restaurant in Yokohama. After having passed the written test, he did exceptionally well in the blind tasting and distinguished himself with his professionality and his rare talent for entertaining the audience in the room. We are very pleased that Wataru Yano has joined the band of winners of this prize. Great seriousness and depth of knowledge combined with a lighthearted touch to successfully communicate the profundity and appeal of Italy s greatest wines, said Alessandra Boscaini, Commercial Director of Masi Agricola. Promoted by our importer for Japan, Japan Europe Trading, the Jet Cup acquires even greater prestige every year, becoming a reference point for the world of wine on the Japanese market. It s a tribute to our Amarone, to our Valpolicella and to all the Veneto in general, its values and its people. Valpolicella and the Veneto have had a fundamental importance in the development of the Italian wine sector. If you think of the value of the production of Pinot Grigio, Prosecco and Amarone, with the Valpolicella wine system, there is no doubt that these wines are the driving force of our economy. I consider the nomination as Cavaliere as a spur, an incentive not just to maintain the current position, which won t be easy because of fierce foreign competition, but also to keep quality at the fore, to work as a team and to give maximum attention to product control, so as to be able to guarantee excellence in what we produce project rafcycle Our support for Project Rafcycle continues, enabling us to recycle the silicone paper backing for our wine labels. Samples are collected, milled, stripped of silicone, and then turned into cellulose and paper to be re-used in the paper production process.
