Bordeaux Wines with Max With more than 127,000 hectares (about 313,000 acres), the Bordeaux wine region is one of the most important and famous in the world. The Biturica grape variety for example was growing as far back as 56 BC. Throughout time and the various conquerors, the techniques in wine-making has been evolving throughout the area. Starting as early as the 12 th century for example, hundreds of ships were leaving the Garonne river s Port de la Lune (Moon Port), their holds loaded with barrels of Claret wine. Access to maritime transport, as well as a few legal and social privileges gained in the 13 th century, allowed Bordeaux to export goods to England and saw the stunningly rapid growth of both Bordeaux s wine industry, and the number of wine merchants. The gravel and day limestone soils and the fine grape varieties create the ideal conditions for producing great red and white wines. Because of these 57 appellations as well as the complex Bordeaux wine classification, it's easy to get lost in it all! That is why Max brings you to the heart of each terroir (a combination of micro-climate and soil) to meet with passionate and enthusiastic cellar masters who will share their savoir-faire. You will also discover other secrets about these exquisite products, the Grand Cru wines as well as other hidden treasures. Your Bordeaux wine tour with Max will be adapted to your trip and will be a memorable and unique experience for you and your taste buds. Custom Bordeaux Wine Tours with Max Start at 95 a person 5
