Inglenook Experiences & Private Events Inglenook, Once Again and Forever The Inglenook legacy began in 1879 when Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain, wine connoisseur and entrepreneur, came to Rutherford to build a wine estate that would rival Europe s finest. When Niebaum s grandnephew, John Daniel, Jr. inherited the chateau and vineyards in the 1930s, Inglenook had already earned international acclaim. Francis and Eleanor Coppola purchased the property in 1975 and have spent forty years reuniting the original vineyards, returning winemaking operations to the chateau and restoring Inglenook s illustrious heritage with the help of renowned wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt and Managing Director and Winemaker Philippe Bascaules. In honor of this estate and its historical significance, we have restored the name, Inglenook.

Philippe Bascaules, Managing Director & Winemaker Personally chosen by Francis Ford Coppola, renowned French winemaker Philippe Bascaules came to Napa from Bordeaux in 2011 to become Managing Director & Winemaker of the great American wine estate, Inglenook. Born and bred in the South-West of France, Bascaules was a gifted student with a love of nature that ultimately inspired his passion for œnology. In 1990, after receiving a degree in Agricultural Engineering, with a specialty in œnology, from Montpellier University in France, Bascaules began his career as assistant to the Estate Director at the legendary Château Margaux, one of France s five First Growth Bordeaux estates. Bascaules became Estate Director in 2000, overseeing viticulture and vinification and working alongside renowned General Manager, Paul Pontallier. At Inglenook, Bascaules now leads a team of talented winemaking professionals dedicated to Coppola s vision of making Inglenook the finest New World estate wine produced in the Old World style. In 1890, founder Gustave Niebaum stated that Inglenook would one day produce the finest wines, to equal and excel the most famous vintages of Europe. Over a century later, Coppola and Bascaules continue the Inglenook legacy. Alex Lovick, Winery Chef A Native Northern Californian, Alex began his career by apprenticing with Chef Walter Manzke in Carmel. He sharpened his culinary skills at The Little Nell in Aspen, working with Chef Ryan Hardy and has participated in the Aspen Food and Wine Classic. Alex has traveled extensively in Russia and Western Europe, which has served to inspire his menus. Since venturing to the Napa Valley, Alex has worked as a private chef for numerous clients. He has also worked at various wineries such as Kuleto Estate, Robert Mondavi Winery and Stag s Leap Wine Cellars. As Winery Chef for Inglenook, Alex not only oversees all culinary aspects for the Estate, but also wine and food education, the Chef s Garden and the Foraging program. Focusing on local sustainable ingredients, Alex allows the seasons to dictate his menus, cultivating the bounty of the expansive Inglenook Estate.

Our Wines Rubicon In 1975, Francis Ford Coppola purchased the historic Inglenook property, intent on restoring the estate s legacy of creating world-class wines equal to those that founder Gustave Niebaum and his grandnephew John Daniel Jr. made for decades. Rubicon, the estate s premier wine since 1978, is produced from the best estate grown fruit, including the historic Gustave Niebaum Cabernet selection, which was first planted on the property in the 1880s. Cask Cabernet Sauvignon Inglenook Cask wines, which were originally produced between 1934 and 1964, have been judged by critics to be among the best Cabernets ever made. Since 1995, the Coppola family has produced a new era of Cask wines that are crafted in the same spirit as those made more than half a century ago.

Our Wines Blancaneaux Blancaneaux is a white blend of estate-grown Rhone varietals, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viogner.. Produced in extremely limited quantities from 6.5 acres of white grapes grown on the property, Mt. St. John shades the fruit from the late afternoon sun preserving their aromas and acidity. All three varietals come from vines that are more than ten years old and now showing signs of maturity by revealing more profuse aromatics, richer textures, and complex flavors. Marsanne and Roussanne contribute body and minerality, while our Viognier brings an intense bouquet of tropical fruit and spices. Sauvignon Blanc The 2013 vintage marks the debut of Inglenook Sauvignon Blanc. This property, best known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, has always had small amounts of white varietals, primarily dedicated to the creation of Blancaneaux, our estate s premier white wine. In 2011, we grafted some Sauvignon Blanc onto a selection of Petite Sirah vines, since experimentation over the years revealed that this vineuard lot was able to produce a Sauvignon Blanc very floral and unique in character.

Our Wines RC Reserve Syrah Inspired by the great Australian heavyweights of Barossa and McLaren Vale as well as by the more pedigreed Syrah-based wines from the Northern Rhone of France, Roman Coppola and the Inglenook winemaking team set out to create a unique Syrah that combined the nuance and texture of the Old World with the powerful fruit of the New World. Rutherford s temperate climate, alluvial soils and the eastern exposure where the vines are planted at the Inglenook estate offer envious conditions for producing a rich, opulent wine. Roman Coppola designed the label for RC Reserve Syrah, selecting a bold typeface and simple artwork to parallel the pure character and intense flavor of the bottle s contents. Edizione Pennino Zinfandel Edizione Pennino Zinfandel pays tribute to Francis Ford Coppola s maternal grandfather, Francesco Pennino. Born in Italy, Francesco emigrated to the United States as a young man and started a music publishing company known as Edizione Pennino. Our estate Zinfandel bears the music company s logo in its original form and to add to the nostalgia, each vintage bottling has one of Pennino s song titles imprinted on the cork. When Coppola purchased the Inglenook estate in 1975, it was recommended that he remove the Zinfandel vineyards, but because this varietal has Italian origins and has always been enjoyed by his family, he insisted that the Zinfandel vines remain.
