JR. BBQ COOK- OFF GUIDELINES AND ENTRY FORM If you are between the ages of 12-17 and you re a good barbeque cook. You care about how your BBQ comes off the grill and onto the plate. You ve practiced and perfected your craft. Your friends and family all love your barbeque. It s time to take the next step and enter the Grilling On Main BBQ Cook- Off! THE CONTESTS 1. No type of flammable other than wood or charcoal may be used within the cooker once the meat has been placed there. 2. Electrical devices may be used within the cooker as long as they do not directly generate heat. 3. There will be three categories: Best Hamburger Prize - $50 and a trophy, Best Hot Dog Prize - $35 and a trophy, and Best of Show Prize - $25 and a trophy. Meat must be cooked on- site at the contest from a raw state whether fresh or frozen. Meat must be maintained at a temperature below 40 degrees Fahrenheit prior to cooking, and at or above 140 degrees during and after cooking. Each Jr. Cooker will be provided a box to place the entry into and will be responsible for bringing the entry(s) to the judging tent on time. Any meat brought to the judges table after deadline will be disqualified from that category.
CONTESTANT RESPONSIBILITIES Each team competing shall supply ALL of his/her own meat, cooking ingredients, individual cooking devices (portable stove, wood or charcoal, etc., No Gas) utensils. All contestants MUST adhere to all electrical, fire, and other codes set forth in the acceptance packet. Teams will be allowed to set up Saturday June 18 th at 6 am. Junior Cook time is between 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Judging will be at Noon WATER AND ELECTRICITY Special water and electrical hookups for just the junior contest will not be provided. Par9cipants can cook with parents or other adults in the main event. ACCEPTANCE The initial entry fee is $25.00. To be considered for a spot in the GOM BBQ Cook- Off, you must have your contract in with the payment in full by June 1 st 2016. If you want to order a T- shirt you must have your contract in with the payment in full by June 16, 2016. Verbal or written acceptance/ non acceptance will be given to designated chief cook, acceptance packets will be mail out to each youth. Checks will only be cashed once your applicant has been accepted to compete.
