Let These Hard-Working Two Year Olds Work For You! 30 Calves born this spring avg 66 lbs at birth. Born small, hit the ground running. Lots of vigor. Used to clean up heifers, used in AI, used in ET program--one of our best bull calves is an ET Maricopa x Easy Rio daughter. The older they get, the more you like them. The structure is excellent, they will be thick, square and clean made. One the most fertile bulls on the ranch. If he covers, he settles. Letter from the President... Dear Charolais Breeders 2016-2017 Membership Directory CAT Officers and Directors President: David Skeans Vice President: Chris Link Secretary: Eric Dennis Treasurer: Michael Loran Directors: Gary Biggs Bradley Bracewell Rick Evans Heath Hyde Tom Levens Norberto Lopez Larry Ludeke Junior Advisors: Meghan Elder Danni Lunsford Haley Dennis Office Manager: Katelyn Ebrom PO Box 1103 Poth, TX 78147 (830) 708-6709 info@charolaisassociation.com www.charolaisassociation.com The Charolais Association of Texas would like to invite you to join us in promoting Charolais cattle across the state and the country. Texas leads the nation in the number of active members, junior members, and enrolled females. In recent years we have seen an increase in participation in CAT sales and advertising. If you haven t attended a CAT sale lately, we encourage you to do so. There is a sense of unity amongst our members, and we understand that there are great cattle right here in Texas. CAT members have the option to sell cattle in our two annual sales and have the opportunity to advertise in the CAT Directory. The Directory appears in the Charolais Journal, AICA website and CAT website. It is a great way of gaining national exposure and recognition. CAT membership is open to everyone, including our out of state members. CAT works to support our junior members; we award annual scholarships to graduating seniors and offer premiums at the Fort Worth Junior Show. In the past few years we have seen drastic fluctuations in the cattle market and this has created challenges for some producers, but it has also created an opportunity. Most believe that the market may have over corrected from what was an all time high and should level out with some time. Until it does, the bottom line of commercial cattlemen will be tight. This presents us with the opportunity to promote Charolais bulls. Our bulls will significantly add pounds to any calf crop and the demand for Charolais influenced calves is strong. All it takes is getting people to buy one Charolais bull, after that our product sells itself and anyone that can do simple math will figure out Charolais bulls will make you more money. If you are interested in joining or have any questions, please don t hesitate to call myself or any of the other officers/directors. Sincerely, David Skeans AICA Representatives Area 5 Director: Larry Ludeke Area 6 Director: Bradley Bracewell Field Staff: Cody Beck (765) 719-1622 cbeck@charolaisusa.com www.charolaisusa.com Join Us! Cows to Build a Herd Around RLL GOIN PLACES 1329PET F950190 A former national reserve champion, this 2244 daughter has been admired throughout her life for her stylish combination of femininity, width and depth. The daughters of Goin Places are fantastic. We need more of them! We have enhanced her impact on our herd through the use of sons by Wyoming Wind, M6 Density (Big Top x 248), BPC BottomLine (914 x 2244) and M6 Fresh Air (Three Trees Wind x 914). The daughters of these bulls are exemplifying the same characteristics that made Goin Places so desirable. MS COOLEY S DUKE 1107N60 F991119 This dam of Cooley Royce has been called a freak because of her enormous width and spring of rib. The kind of power that N60 transmits makes breeding easy! She has worked with every bull we ve tried. Her sons are stout, growthy and easy to sell, while her daughters and granddaughters are maternal and productive. Have you seen the Royce daughters? They will work in anyone s herd. We expect N60 s influence to permeate our herd for many years to come. M6 MS E46 S DUKE 248 PET F967918 With over 135 registered progeny, few females have had a greater impact on the breed than 248. We purchased an interest in 248 from M6 as a first calf heifer because we thought she was the most feminine Cigar daughter we had ever seen. Upon selling her, we produced nine clones to 248, ensuring that her genetics will continue to proliferate in our herd. Since the clones are just as productive as the original, the possibilities are endless. Bruner Polled Charolais 4 miles east of I35W 12320 E. The first 21 head born at Double S averaged 79 pounds at birth. They are thick, moderate framed, easy fleshing calves with lots of rib and bone. His Smokester dam is now 13 1/2 years old and still in production. She has produced several herd bulls working in Charolais herds. Maternal power from both sides of his pedigree--blue Value & Kami. His 1st daughters will calve this spring. They typify what a brood cow should look like. Long Shot has consistently sired progeny that are on target for performance, uniformity, structure and correctness. His sire group is consistently among the highest sale average for bulls sold. Dam is a member of the Brenda cow family like other notable proven sires. Daughters are in production and have small teats and nice udders. This may come from his dam, who is sired by a Silver Distance son going back to Easy Blend on the bottom side of her pedigree. Dakota Rush was her first calf and she ratio d 107% on his weaning.
