Grafting is done when the rootstocks begin to move in spring, when the buds begin to swell. Growing instructions will be included. PEACH SEEDS These have been collected and treated as below and will be ready to crack and plant when you receive them.
10 for $15:00 plus freight You can grow your own peach rootsocks by saving the seed of late strong growing peaches. Once the fruit is eaten the seeds must be put into a sealed plastic bag with a little damp sawdust while the stone is still moist (don t dry them out) and then put into the fridge for 6-8 weeks. Then remove the stones, put into a vice with the pointy ends into the vice and wind up the vice so that the kernels fall out. Plant these in a deep container (well drained) and they will germinate quickly and be ready to pot up when the first growth flush is hardened off. MARIANNA CUTTINGS Sold in multiples of 10 for $20 plus freight, or 5 for $12 plus freight. These cuttings produce the rootstocks for your plum, peach, nectarine and apricot stone fruit. If you plant these in June/July, they will be ready to graft in July September of the following year. Plums do especially well on these rootstocks. ianna stocks prefer heavier, moist soils. If you have free draining rootstocks and dry boney soils you will be better off with peach seedlings for rootstocks ianna rootstocks are non-suckering of medium vigour. If you keep one of these trees ungrafted you can then take cuttings from it to use for your own rootstock production. APPLE All apple rootstocks have roots on them and are ready to plant out for grafting in spring. You can graft any variety of apple onto these rootstocks. Sold only in multiples of 5 for $30 plus freight. PEAR Apple (M9): Dwarfing stock, shallow roots. Small tree suitable for espaliering/cordoning. Apple (793): Large tree. BA 29 Quince: These produce a dwarf pear tree. They are rooted and ready to plant then graft soon after. These rootstocks prefer moist conditions. Sold only in multiples of 5 for $30 plus freight.
