Measuring Distinguished Design resin grills and registers are used for wall and ceiling applications only. Classic Grills, metal grills are available for floor, ceiling and wall applications. FYI: A grill is a vent cover which is designed to allow air to pass into or out of a room. A register is a grill which has a louver assembly attached to the back. The louvers allow for control of the air volume of the air entering a room. Easy Steps to Measuring: To accurately measure a grill for size, it is best to remove the grill from the wall and measure the rough opening in the drywall. The two dimensions you will need to measure are width (horizontal) and the height (vertical). Width (W) is ALWAYS expressed first. Height (H) is the second number. If the numbers are not received in this order it is possible the design will appear sideways on the wall or ceiling. Installation Here are a few helpful tips to help you achieve a clean professional installation. Always inspect the grill dimension and quality prior to installation. Carefully remove existing grill or register. Clean both the inside of the opening and around the outside edge of the opening, remove any old caulking, dust and old paint. Apply a coat of flat black paint (spray can)to the inside of the ductwork to improve the appearance of the installation. Install the new grill with the screws provided. For best results, apply a thin bead of latex caulking between the wall and the grill, smooth out the excess caulking with a damp paper towel. STUDS W H Most register manufacturers size their grills in two inch increments. For example; Width (W) 10, 12 or 14. Height (H) 4, 6 or 8. The actual size of the grill or registers interior dimension will be slightly smaller than the rough opening in the drywall. Classic Grill frames are slightly larger than the industry standard to ensure coverage for both the rough opening and the paint/trim line commonly found when removing the grills. Grills can be purchased with or without damper assemblies. Our guarantee: At Classic Grills our goal is to manufacture and supply a quality product and build a satisfied repeat customer base. If you are not satisfied with the quality of your purchase, please contact us by e-mail or call us at 760-213-0427 so that we can replace the item upon its return. We have undertaken significant testing of our products to ensure it withstands the rigorous HVAC environment. We are not responsible for damage to the grills as a result of misuse or abuse.

That is they protrude the thickness of the grill out from the wall into the room. Distinguished Design provides a grill for flush mount applications. Flush-mounted means that the exterior face of the grill is mounted flush with the wall or ceiling. Flush mounted grills are a very popular choice among custom home builders as they show a further element of sophistication. Distinguished Design has designed the grill in two pieces. 1 Frame: The frame is attached to the wall using drywall screws. It is further secured by the drywall and drywall mud compound that adjoins the outer section of the frame. 2 Grill: The grill pattern has a slight border around the outside of the same design as the frame. This ensures that both the grill and the frame have a strong air tight seal. The grill is held in place by our unique Magna-Snap design. This ensures for a tight precise fit with no screws clips or clasps to interfere with the smooth appearance. The flush mounted grills provide a seamless, beautifully clean look. Grills are provided to work with both ½ and 5/8 drywall. For installation of the flush mount system please call or e-mail us for a technical sheet.
