FROM THE SCRIBE S PEN.. What a start to the year weather wise with it being hot, muggy, wet and wild, especially over the last couple of days. Though the weather may be a little unsettled we have had a steady month to start the year, so pop down and keep in the know with what s happening in the clubrooms and with the RSA in general. So what s happening I hear you ask? Let s begin with Friday s, it is not only club night but an evening of Live Entertainment arranged for your enjoyment. Last Friday we got the ball rolling with THE ORIGINALS and by all accounts it was an excellent night. Tonight will be entertaining the punters. He is an exceptional musician and vocalist with a wide range of music, something for everyone, and well worth coming along to enjoy. On February 9 th STAMPEDE return for their 4 th performance here at the RSA. They are a growing band with a country background but can play music from any genre. A must see band. Coming up on Saturday the 24 th of February the RSA presents will be preforming with THE OUTLAWS as her backing band. This will be an awesome show from 7:30pm till late, yet another fantastic night of superb entertainment. The kitchen will open for meals from 5:00pm to nourish all you hungry show goers. The tickets are available at the bar at a cost of $20.00 each. Numbers are limited so don t wait for the last minute to secure a ticket or you may miss out. is already under way for the year. As a reminder bingo is on every Monday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:30pm except on Public Holidays. It is a lot of fun and can be quite profitable for those who win; why not turn up and give it a whirl. On the adjuncts front. Darts are always first out of the blocks with the Annual Tri-Series with Birkenhead & Tauranga RSA s played every Auckland Anniversary weekend. Last year Whangarei hosted this event, this year it was Birkenhead s turn, which means next year Tauranga will be the host. Club nights have continued through the holiday season and they have already posted their Club Championship and other game dates for 2018. The Rifle Club had their first shoot for the new year on Tuesday night. Line Dancing start up again on Tuesday February 13 th & Friday 16 th and The Woman s Section on Wednesday the 14 th. The pool club is not far behind with a muster arranged for Saturday the 17 th of February from 1:00pm for any pool players keen to play for the RSA team(s) in the Whangarei Pool League 2018. This will be the first of 2 musters with the other to be held later date still to be confirmed. They have also had great attendance on club nights throughout the holidays. It is hoped their 2018 competition and other game dates will be available for the next issue of the Newsletter. So all that remains is the future.. What does it hold for 2018 and the intervening years? As you should now be well aware this year we will be moving to our new premises; at a later date still to be confirmed. PLEASE HIGHLIGHT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 11 TH on your calendar. It is the date for the second open afternoon (1pm until 3pm) of the building in Hannah Street. It is your chance to call in and have a look around, and offer some suggestions or ideas for the interior fit out. It is an opportunity not to miss The past cannot be changed.the future is yet in your power.it all depends on what you do today. Ka Kite Ano, The Scribe who
