PRODUCT MANUAL QUALITY LOOSE LICKS, CONCENTRATES & complete feeds

Company Profile PBA Feeds was established in 2007 when after 30 years as grain marketing specialists, Philp Brodie Grains, expanded into the stockfeed industry after acquiring the site of an existing stockfeed company. The Australian owned company has always prided itself on a providing a first rate marketing service and conducting business in an ethical manner which has continued throughout its expansion and operation of PBA Feeds. With our wide range of stockfeed supplements, grain and loose licks, the professional team at PBA Feeds are confident they have a product that will suit your needs, whether you are a cattle or sheep producer, feedlotter or dairy farmer. Located in Industrial Avenue, Toowoomba, PBA Feeds operate under an Australian quality assurance program and are Feedsafe accredited, with all their products manufactured under the highest industry standard. The mill is also certified by Australian Certified Organics (ACO) to manufacture organic full fat soybean meal and expeller soybean meal onsite. With a dedicated team of qualified staff and feed specialists, PBA Feeds can answer your enquiries on our Loose Lick supplements, concentrates, mineral mixes and protein meals for home mixing and can custom mix to your requirements. Through PBA s close association with Philp Brodie Grains, they are also able to trade in bulk for summer and winter grain, cotton seed and protein meals such as cottonseed meal, palm kernal meal and canola meal. PBA Feeds also can supply soybean meal which is manufactured on site. Livestock Supplementation with loose licks Loose licks are the most cost efficient method of supplementation for livestock grazing in a paddock on natural or improved pasture, forage crops or stubble. They may contain some rumen degradable protein eg urea, and some protein meals that are high in by-pass protein, such as copra and cotton seed meal. Loose licks may also contain macro minerals such as calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, sulphur and salt, as well as micro-elements like copper, zinc, selenium, cobalt, manganese, iodine, plus vitamins A, D and E. Loose licks are manufactured with varying amounts of these elements to suit a wide range of stock grazing on different types of country to balance deficiencies in paddock feed within varying seasonal conditions. Successful feeding of loose licks can increase the digestion and performance of stock grazing low protein and high fibre diets. Available in easy to handle 25kg bags and bulk bags are available on request 54-60 Industrial Avenue Toowoomba QLD 4350 Telephone: 07 4690 6400 When to Supplement? Dry feed supplementation is commenced when the producer decides that livestock are not to lose any more weight Supplementation may begin when dietary protein in available grass falls to below 6%. Nutritional value of paddock grasses decrease as plants mature. One of the main points in using loose licks is to begin supplementing before livestock start to slip in condition 2 3

Warne Family, Billabalong, Injune PBA FEEDS LOOSE LICK FEEDER Lifelong beef cattle producers, the Warne family, have tasted success in the show ring recently, and put it down to the type of cattle they breed and what they supplement feed them. Brett and Leanne Warne, and their daughters, Emma and Jessica, operate the family s Jembrae Droughtmaster stud who are just moving to a property Billabalong in the Arcadia Valley, Queensland from their property Ten Mile near Casino, New South Wales. They have experienced great demand for their stock, selling at the Casino All Breeds sale, the Rockhampton National Bull Sales, and the Roma Tropical Sale, as well as straight from the paddock. Their success in the show ring in 2009, has included exhibiting the champion heifer of the 2009 Droughtmaster Futurity Show, Jembrae Florence 3rd, and the champion bull and supreme exhibit of the show, Jembrae CJ. They were also the most successful exhibitors at the futurity, held at Gatton, as well as the most successful first time exhibitors. At Rockhampton Beef 2009, Jembrae Poppy, was placed first in her class from 19 exhibits, and went on to take home the broad ribbon for junior champion heifer. Jembrae stud was also placed sixth from 33, in the exhibitors group at Rockhampton. They supplementary feed their cattle with a custom mix produced for them by PBA Feeds, Toowoomba, and can t speak highly enough of the difference this mix has made to their cattle, both on the home property, and in the show ring. 250 kg capacity feeder Weather proof Peg down points to prevent livestock pushing trough around Cost effective These custom mineral mixes can be supplemented with their silage rations or as a dry lick in the paddock. Our cattle are growing to their genetic potential, and look magnificent in the show ring, Brett Warne said. Our heifers are cycling more consistently too, he said. We are pleased with the excellent service and support from the team at PBA Feeds.

We have used PBA Feeds dry lick with cows and calves, and have been very happy with the results. The calves are quite strong and the cows have pulled through the tough conditions. We ve also had steers on the same product and as first time users are very happy with the results and would recommend their product. 13 CATTLE LOOSE LICKS

We acquired a breeder block approximately two years ago in the Cecil Plains district, and the cows that came with it. We only had about a 30% calving percentage, however as part of an improved management and nutritional program we started feeding a PBA Breeder loose lick supplement consistently during the last two years. Both years have been very dry and the lick has maintained our cows and produced excellent calves whilst on poor quality grass. We have increased herd fertility in that time to around 85% calves on the ground.
