2 Gwanghwamun - - - - X Gwanghwamun has for centuries been at the center of Korean politics and culture. During the Joseon Dynasty, this area served as home to numerous kings. Today, it is where embassies, large companies and the Blue House can be found. It is a vibrant area with numerous attractions, while at the same time very historical.
3 D-Tower - - - - X The D-Tower is a new addition to Gwanghwamun. Having been built in 2014, it is now home to many restaurants, coffee shops etc. It has a wide variety of restaurants, from Korean food to pho, from Chinese-American fusion to Mexican; there is something for everyone. We would like to recommend this venue to all colloquium attendees, due to its close proximity with the Grand Hilton Hotel (approximately a 20 minute taxi ride), as well as due to the wide selection of high-quality restaurants it has to offer. 13 PowerPlant (Western Food) Power Plant is a very popular western style eatery, which is a cafeteria of sorts. The restaurant is divided into five sub-eateries, each having its own specialty. There s pizza, burgers, lobster etc. You have the choice to either stay seated and have a waiter serve you (and pay an additional 10%) or go to the individual food stall to order and wait. They also have a wide selection of craft beer, something that is not overly common in Korea.
