Introduction Juicing is a fun and healthy activity that provides your body pure liquid nutrition at its finest. Juicing is a great way to get kids to ingest vital nutrients because healthy fruits, like apples, and berries can easily hide the taste of yucky vegetables, like, spinach and Kale. So, get your produce ready, plug in your juicer and get ready to juice! Chef Murph Juicing: Best Practices It is important to wash all vegetables and fruits thoroughly before juicing. Depending on the size of your juicer you may need to chop or cut up produce in order to make sure it fits properly through the juicer s feeding tube. Typically, neither vegetables nor fruits have to be peeled or cored with most juicers, but, please check your model s instructions for specifications. In many cases, the peel holds essential nutrients and should be juiced. Peel ginger and cut to size. Beware that while ginger does not produce much juice, a little goes a long way as it adds a lot of rich and potent flavor. Typically it s okay to peel lemons, but, it s important to retain as much of the white pith as possible because it has essential nutrients that allows for better absorption of vitamin C and other essential antioxidants. Juice the seeds too because they also contain excellent nutrients. Re-juice the pulp if it is moist or damp. The shelf life of fresh juice is limited, and so it should be consumed within 2 or 3 days max of preparation. Always refrigerate any leftover juice in an airtight container to prolong shelf life. Once all juicing has been done for each recipe, stir the final juice well in order to incorporate all the flavors. If you are adding ice to your juice, only add to what you will drink immediately, as the ice will melt and distort flavor.

Kohlrabi Juices Kohlrabi is a vegetable in the cabbage family. Varieties include: White Vienna, Purple Vienna, Grand Duke, Gigante, Purple Danube, and White Danube. Nutrition Facts Good source of: Thiamin, Folate, Magnesium and Phosphorus. Very good source of: Dietary Fiber, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Potassium, Copper and Manganese. Juicing Prep Wash kohlrabi thoroughly to remove dirt and residual agricultural chemicals. The stem and the leaves are both edible. Recipes Kohlrabi Carotenoids 2 small kohlrabi 6 carrots Thoroughly scrub and wash, more so, if not organic. Chop and pass through the juicer, alternating between Kohlrabi and carrots. Skim out foam or strain if desired. Pour into glass and serve with or without ice cubes.

Fibrous Kohlrabi Juice 1 large kohlrabi 3 large carrots 1 red apple 1 lemon, peeled 1 golden beetroot, cubed 1 raw garlic clove, peeled Juice and drink at once, with ice if desired. Colon-Lover Kohlrabi Juice 1 large kohlrabi 3 large carrots 1 green apple 1 lemon 1 stalk celery Thoroughly wash and chop to fit your juicer s intake funnel. Juice and enjoy with ice. Refreshing Kohlrabi Juice 2 large kohlrabi, scrubbed and diced 8 kale leaves 2 limes, peeled if desired Run through the juicer and enjoy, add ice for a chilled variety! Ease Pain Kohlrabi Juice 2 large kohlrabi, scrubbed and diced 1 medium cucumber 1 red apple 2 grapefruits This juice will help ease joint pains so, juice it and enjoy an active lifestyle.

Green Kohlrabi Juice 2 large kohlrabi 1 bunch of baby spinach leaves 2 lemons I pear Juice by alternating between each fruit and vegetable. Strain if you prefer. Pour and enjoy, add ice if desired. Collard Greens Juices Collard Greens is an American term for Brassica oleracea, which, is part of the Acephala group of plant foods. The plants have large, dark-colored, edible leaves that are loaded with nutrients. Nutrition Facts Very Good Source Of: Fiber, Vitamin K, Folate, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron, Calcium and Manganese. Good Source Of: Protein, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Niacin, Magnesium, Thiamin, Phosphorus and Potassium. Juicing Prep Wash the large leaves individually to remove dirt and residual fertilizers and pesticides. Leafy vegetables are a favorite harbor of insects and pests, as well as, depository area of pesticides and fertilizers and even dirt particles. Washing them thoroughly ensures food safety. Roll up the leaves before juicing.

Recipes Calcium Rich Collard Green Juice 1 cup collard greens, chopped 3 medium carrots 1 medium apple 1 handful of cilantro 4 leaves of kale 1 medium sweet red bell pepper Juice apples last. Enjoy with ice or without. Collard Green With Broccoli And Cabbage Juice 4 large collard green leaves 1 medium head of broccoli 1 medium cucumber 2 cups head red cabbage 3 large carrots 1 medium apple Juice everything, stir well and enjoy!

Spicy Collard Greens Juice 7 small collard green leaves 4 small stalks celery 1 apple 4 medium carrots, sliced 1/2 head red cabbage 1 knob of ginger 1 small handful of fennel leaves and stalks Run all items through the juicer, alternating between each one, but, add carrots last. Pour into glass of ice and enjoy! Collard Greens With Coconut Boost 4 leaves collard green 1 cup of basil leaves 6 ribs of celery 2 apples A knuckle of ginger 2 inches of turmeric 8 oz. coconut water Juice each item one after the other, pour and enjoy!

Collard Greens With Lettuce 4 leaves of collard green 1 head romaine lettuce 1 whole lemon with peel 2 Fuji apples Juice each item one after the other, pour and enjoy! Foliate-Rich Collard Greens 3 leaves of collard green 1 carrot 2 green apples 1/4 of a lemon with peels Bunch of spinach Small bunch of cilantro Wash, chop and juice. Enjoy with or without ice. Leek And Collard Green Juice 4 leaves of collard green 2 green apples ½ a lemon with peel 1 inch leek Enjoy this juice with a leek twist. Keep the green part and root of the leek, and slice them lengthwise. Separate and wash between the layers to remove grit. Superb if chilled. Collard Green Strawberry-Kiwi Juice 4 leaves of collard green

1 kiwifruit 1 cups strawberry 2 tbsp. fresh lime juice 3 tbsp. honey ( to be mixed with final juice) The drink offers a substantial supply of vitamin C. Kiwi provides support for good eye sight aside from supplying more antioxidants than oranges. Juice all items and add the honey to the finished product, and stir. Swiss Chard Juices Chard, or Beta vulgaris subsp. cicla is an antioxidant rich leafy green vegetable that holds a lot of nutritional benefits and very few calories. Nutrition Facts Very Good Source Of: Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Fiber, Vitamin A, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Copper and Manganese. Good Source Of: Folate, Thiamin and Zinc

Juicing Prep Separate leaves and wash them under running water, making sure all dirt, pests and other foreign matters, including residual chemicals are washed away. You can juice the stems. Leafy greens move best through a juicer when they are sent through after harder fruits or vegetables, such as, celery, cucumbers or apples. Roll them up before passing through the juicer. Recipes Slimming Swiss Chard Juice 3 Swiss chard leaves 2 red apples 2 stalks of celery ½ cucumber 2 kale Leaves A very low-calorie juice ideal for weight management. Anti-Anemia Chard Juice 3 Swiss chard leaves 2 pears 2 oranges 1/2 cucumber 3 kale leaves 1 lemon 1 handful of mint Swiss chard contains a lot of Iron and when juiced with kale brings out a lot of anti-anemia properties. Juice everything, pour and enjoy! Peppery Beet Swiss Chard Juice 3 leaves of Swiss chard 2 apples 1 orange, peel included 1 cucumber 3 celery stalks 1 bell pepper 1 beet, chopped to fit juice feeder Juice while alternating between items, pour and enjoy. Apple Juice With A Touch Of Chard 6 leaves of Swiss chard 2 cucumbers 4 small Fuji apples Process all fruits and veggies into a juicer. Enjoy.

Naturally Reddish Green Chard Juice 4 Swiss Chard Leaves 3 collard green Leaves 1 head of celery 2 apples 1/2 beet 1 knob of ginger 1 lime 2 inches fennel stalk Wash, juice and pour. Swiss Chard And Kiwi Limeade 3 leaves Swiss chard 2 green limes 6 celery ribs 2 limes with peel 2 pears 3 kiwi, cube 1 inch ginger 1 knob turmeric Ginger and turmeric have strong flavors, but they provide a refreshing taste to greens. Juice, shake and enjoy.

Romaine Lettuce Juices Romaine or cos lettuce, native name, lactuca sativa L. var. longifolia, has so few calories that it can be enjoyed in abundance and it provides various essential nutrients. Nutrition Facts Very Good Source Of: Vitamin K, Thiamin, Folate, Iron, Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Potassium and Manganese. Good Source Of: Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6 and Copper. Juicing Prep Wash leaves individually, to remove dirt, pesticides and sand. Roll up the leaves and run through the juicer followed by a harder vegetable or fruit, like cucumbers or apples.
