BURGUNDY 2016 October 11, 2012 Burgundy 2016 Domaines M - Q See date & place of tasting in italics Growers / Wineries are in alphabetical order with area underneath Domaine des Moirots Bissey-sur-Cruchaud Red Wines Bourgogne Pinot Noir 89 2017-22 Tasted in the Carlton Club September 2017 The fruit on the nose is sweet cranberries and minty black cherries the start of the palate has depth a mix of ripe red fruits and black fruits. Mid freshness there is balance the tannins fine and discreet and although quite light at the back it fills out on the finish with a mix of bramble and mulberries. Domaine de la Motte Chablis Chablis 90 2017-22 Tasted in Lilley October 2017 The nose is fragrant with flinty freshness crisp apple on the start of the palate. Sweeter in the middle some ripe greengage a hint of melon fleshy richness at the back but the finishes is classic all of the flinty steeliness that one expects from Chablis lovely length and lingering flavours. October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2016 The nose has a mix of fresh red fruits richer and sweeter on the palate mulberries and cranberries layers of flavour. Quite rich and ripe at the back but there is underlying freshness red fruits and bramble. Domaine du Prieuré Savigny-lès-Beaune Red Wines Bourgogne Pinot Noir 87 2017-22 Tasted in the Carlton Club September 2017 It is light fragrant and fresh with a mix of mainly red fruits. Mulberry is backed by wild strawberry layers of fruit and although there is mid sweetness the finish is light with herbal freshness. Hautes Côtes de Beaune 86 2018-22 Tasted in the Carlton Club September 2017 The nose is closed the start of the palate tight with a strong red fruit influence. There is some sweet fruit in the middle but the tannins are quite obvious at the back the finish is tight and lacks length. Domaine Parisse Pouilly-Fuissé Mâcon-Fuissé 87 2018-21 Fresh fruits the nose is firm lacking fruit richness the start of the palate light with a citrus crisp apple mix. There is not a lot of fruit showing on the back palate and the finish is citrusy and tight. Saint-Véran 87 2017-21 There is not a lot of fruit on the nose the palate starts with crunchy apple. There is slightly more depth in the middle greengage but the citrus mix dominates the back palate and the finish is firm and slightly lacking in length. BURGUNDY 2016 October 11, 2012 Mineral freshness the nose is light and the start of the palate lean quite hard. Ripe pear gives more weight in the middle with the fresh fruit the crisp apple giving a firm fresh finish. Pouilly-Fuissé 88 2017-21 The nose has a chalky flintiness the start of the palate is lime fresh. There is some mid sweetness but a lack of fruit at the back the finish is a bit lacking in character. Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Bourgogne Chardonnay Haut de Champs 88 2018-21 Apple and lime the nose is fresh the start of the palate bright. Sweeter in the middle the greengage and melon mix is ripe depth at the back but it finishes quite light and fresh. Montagny Les Bassets 89 2018-22 The fruit on the nose is sweet the palate has the richness of ripe fruit there is a lighter fresher feel to the mid palate but it fills out at the back and finishes with depth of flavour. Saint-Romain Le Périère 91 2018-22 Both nose and palate have breadth of flavour the fruit ripe and honeyed. The mid richness is balanced by underlying apple the back palate and finish are fleshy and rich with ripe melon depth of flavour. Cave de Prissé Prissé Mâcon Prissé Les Clochetes 86 2017-20 The nose is firm and fresh the palate has lots of crisp apple.
