With his wife, Leah, Charles developed chocolate recipes that made his small shop in Victoria a favourite stop for travellers from all over the world. Item #50526 Charles Rogers in the back of his grocery shop. In 1903, he constructed a building across the street and subsequently moved his chocolate shop into that location in 1917. If you look closely at the picture on this tin you can see the original Rogers Chocolate shop on the left side of the street and what would later be his permanent location (W.B. SHAKESPEARE) on the right side of the street. Today, the building is designated a heritage site and remains our home. Charles Rogers and his wife Leah, gave the City of Victoria many wonderful gifts, including our 913 Government Street store and of course, our world famous, hand-wrapped chocolates.
