Coyote Howl San Jon Schools FEB 2018 Spring is in the air and the March winds have already begun to blow. Along with the change in seasons, testing season is upon us. Students on our campus will be participating in the PARCC and SBA tests the months of March and April. Be sure to look at the detailed schedule found inside this newsletter. Tips for helping your student be successful during these test: Have student get plenty of rest. Early bedtimes can benefit your child during this time. Make sure students are fed and hydrated. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Proper fuel will help your student stay focused. Students should be at school on time. This will assist them with settling in to the day before starting the exam. Rushing to get into the test room will create undue stress for your child. Schedule DR appointments before or after the testing window. Make-up testing takes away from valuable instructional time in the classroom. San Jon PAC wants to say a big thank you to all the community members who helped in ANY way with the Pee Wee Tourney on February 16-17. It was, again, a huge success, thanks to you all! We were able to raise over $6,000 for our San Jon PAC Booster Club. The money is used all year to pay for various items such as shirts, travel, uniforms, food, funding of extra-curricular activities, and much more. It wouldn't be possible to support our students so well, without everyone pitching in. So again, we thank you! Bobby the Barrel is an annoying barrel who shows up in our classrooms to pester us. Bobby is put right in the line of our travel, making us go around him. If we want Bobby moved out of our way, we have to pay National Honor Society (NHS) $10 or more. Then Bobby gets sent to a new classroom. No matter where Bobby goes, money has to be paid to have him/her removed. Once Bobby returns to a classroom the second time, money can be given again (which we hope happens since it s for a good cause) and/or embellishments can be added to give him/her a personality. Proceeds from Bobby s travels will be given to Paws and Claws Animal Shelter in Tucumcari. NHS is raising funds for bundles of pet food. Each bundle cost $70. If you would like to contribute please contact our sponsor Mrs. Gates or drop your donation off at the school. If you prefer, you could stop by Tucumcari Ranch Supply (TRS) and make a donation to our cause. Just let TRS know it is for Paws and Claws for San Jon s NHS fundraiser. TRS will give us a receipt that you contributed.
