The Keel & Curley Story K eel & Curley Winery started in the spring of 2003 in the farmhouse of our founder, Joe Keel. Joe s blueberry farm had grown to 20 acres since its inception in 1996. With the increase in blueberry production, Mr. Keel had several hundred pounds of leftover blueberries, called culls, that esthetically would not pass FDA specifications to be sold as fresh fruit. Joe searched for an alternative to wasting the precious berries but was not interested in jam, jelly, or pie production. Mr. Keel believed that wine was the answer that he was searching for and thus the first batches of Keel & Curley blueberry wines were made. After some trial and error, Joe mastered the blueberry wines and started selling his bottled creations. The three blueberry wines, sweet, semidry, and dry, are Keel & Curley s original classic wines. Later, The name Keel & Curley comes from the combination of Joe s fathers family name, Keel and his mothers maiden name, Curley. Keel & Curley expanded its product line adding in fruit fusion wine and 100% grape wines. Today, Keel & Curley Winery has over a dozen wines and an ever growing business. Keel & Curley Wines can also be found in several retailers throughout Florida including Publix, Total Wines & Liquor, ABC Liquor, and select Wal-Mart and Sam s Clubs. The Keel & Curley Story T en years after the inception of the winery, Joe and his son Clay were interested in making craft beer. After much study and research, a new division of the Keel & Curley brand was added in October of 2013; Two Henrys Brewing Company. Two Henrys now has four flagship beers with many others continuously rotated on tap with select beers being canned. In addition to wine and craft beer, Keel & Curley Winery and Two Henrys Brewing Co. started producing a variety of hard ciders for another local brewery in 2012. In 2014, Keel & Curley started to make and produce its own variety of hard ciders for patrons to enjoy in house and at home with the canned ciders. The hard ciders are made with 100% apple cider, not concentrates or added water filters, from a cider company in Lansdale, Pennsylvania called Zeiglers. The hard The name Two Henrys derives from the late 1800 s railroad and hotel tycoons, Henry Plant and Henry Flagler. ciders have been a great addition to the business adding a light and bubbly drink to the business product lines. There are now eight flavors of hard ciders on tap today. In 2016, Keel & Curley Winery added a restaurant, nicknamed Railcar 91, to its list of business ventures, truly adding the icing on the cake for the company. You ll notice many references to railroads and Key West to tie in Joe Keel s love for Key West and Floridian history. Today, Keel & Curley Winery has become the second largest winery in the state of Florida, has won numerous awards for esteemed quality, provided a picturesque venue for countless weddings, and has become a staple in the Central Florida region.
