Salary Gecko Hospitality Survey Report 2017 www.geckohospitality.com

Dear Restaurant Professional, On behalf of Gecko Hospitality, it s my pleasure to present our third annual Hospitality Management Salary Survey Report for 2017. The data collected in our survey is based on information obtained directly from restaurant management professionals between January 2017 and December 2017. The survey reveals statistics from over 2000 Hospitality Management professionals throughout the United States and Canada and the results encompass the most popular segments and job titles in the hospitality industry. While industry average salaries are the highlight of our statistical findings: gender, geographic location, turnover, and salary increases are among the many factors which comprise the details and depth of this survey. Gecko Hospitality strives to provide mutually beneficial and the most up-to-date data from our survey to our candidates and clientele. For example, both men and women had the same top-5 reasons why they left their previous employer. With this information, you as an employer can create a culture within your operation preventing your top employees from leaving for these reasons. Another interesting realization occurred when we discovered the majority of people in each of the classifications only graduated with a 2-year degree. However, these same people have had an average of 13 years experience within the Hospitality Industry. As a candidate, you could extrapolate that employers are looking for people with quality involvement in the industry rather than a higher degree. Employers may also be disqualifying a talented candidate based on the education requirements of a minimum 4-year degree. We hope you enjoy the information presented in this survey and wish you success and prosperity throughout 2018. Respectfully, RESTAURANT Robert Krzak President Gecko Hospitality

Restaurant Definitions QUICK SERVICE () Quick service restaurants emphasize speed of service. Operations range from small-scale street vendors with food carts to multi-billion dollar corporations like McDonald's and Pizza Hut. If table seating is available, ordering is not done from the table but from a front counter. Drive-through and take-out service may also be available. FAST CASUAL Fast casual restaurants are primarily chain restaurants, such as Chipotle Mexican Grill and Panera Bread. Their average meal ranges from $8 - $15. Fast casual restaurants usually do not offer full table service, but may offer non-disposable plates and cutlery. FAMILY DINING Family dining restaurants are full-service restaurants where guests are waited on by a service staff and alcoholic beverages are not served. Average meals range from $9 to 13. Chain examples include: Bob Evans, Perkins, and Cracker Barrel. CASUAL DINING A casual dining restaurant serves moderately-priced food in a casual atmosphere. The average meal would range from $10 to $20. Casual dining restaurants typically provide table service. Chain examples include: TGI Friday's and Applebee's. Casual dining restaurants often have a full bar with separate bar staff, a larger beer menu and a limited wine menu. UPSCALE CASUAL Upscale casual restaurants are where you re likely to see a tablecloth, a trained wait staff, and a full bar. The average check is from $25 to $50 per person. Some upscale casual restaurants are Fleming s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Cooper s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, and Burtons Grill. UPSCALE DINING Upscale dining restaurants pamper guests and have higher prices than other restaurants. You are tended to by more than one server and a sommelier will drop by your table. The best known Upscale dining chain restaurants are Ruth s Chris Steak House, Morton s The Steakhouse, and McCormick & Schmick s. www.geckohospitality.com
