WEINGUT GEHRING We take pride in obtaining the best results from grapes - our natural material - from top vineyards along the banks of the Rhine. Fruity and fresh wines, wines to keep in your cellar for special occasions, wines matured in traditional wooden casks or in stainless steel containers after many hours of manual work.
THE VINTNER FAMILY Isn't the birth of a new vintage comparable to the exciting birth of a wonderful new baby? A whole year of indescribable anticipation - a deep throbbing in the proud chest of the Vintner. The professional preparation for the birth of a whole new class in its own right-the "G Class" Diana and Theo Gehring and their daughter Gina and their son Gil. "G Class" means master cooperage and tradition handed down from the great grandfather himself through his son to the young great grandson thirsting for knowledge. He, in his turn now at the helm, applies his skills and his trade as a navigator to chart ever new adventures in wine from the very best vineyards along the Rhine... our clients join him on his voyage - for we anchor at many small and beautiful ports around Europe. The "G Class" - vineyards comprising today 28.5 acres of 80% white and 20% red wines with a very good ratio of price to quality - is welcomed even at the most modest port of call. Whether you are already a loyal client or are new on board with us, you should try our personal service. We shall always know how to surprise and please you with new adventures in wine. GAULT MILLAU
PRESS GAULT MILLAU 2005 This winery has been marketing wine in bottles since 1959, Theo Gehring took over the business from his parents in 1995. It did not take long for him and his wife Diana to implement their own ideas. A big change was due in mid-2001 when they moved from very cramped quarters in Nierstein to a farm complex in the middle of the vineyards. In terms of vineyards, they have some respectable parcels closer to the Rhine, in the famous Roter Hang. The potential of these sites was brought out very well in 2001. Last year we were more impressed by the basic wines. Theo Gehring has managed to master the challenges of the dry 2003 vintage very well, his range is not lacking in charm. The red wines as well as the Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese wines were not ready for tasting at time of going to press. Dry wines are designated with stars to indicate their quality. DIE BESTEN WEINERZEUGER VON A-Z Two years ago Theo Gehring had already presented a convincing collection of wines headed up by several sweet and noble-sweet Rieslings. The 2001 vintage brought a further improvement. Above all the dry wines were noticeably more concentrated and forceful than the year before - the best collection of the vintage along the Rhine front. In 2001 Theo Gehring has again several impressively powerful and fruity Rieslings to offer. Gerhard Eichelmann WEIN GOURMET The production of wine was modernized through the investment in a new estate just outside Nierstein. Above all the modern facet can be seen in the Rieslings from the Roter Hang. These wines present freshly with fine acidity and elegant mineral tones. Winebar Vini Vita offering regional and french specialties. Die 75O besten Weingüter in Deutschland 2004 ALLES ÜBER WEIN 2005: We recognise the Gehring estate by awarding their wines excellent quality. VOX KOCHDUELL A double success with 2002 dry pinot gris Selection Rheinhessen and the 2002 pinot blanc classic. "A pinotgris that will put fear into the hearts of some north Italians and Alsatians." Kai Schattner, Vox-Kochduell
RECOMMENDATION Niersteiner Auflangen Riesling dry Vintage: 2004 Vineyard: The Niersteiner Auflangen in the Red Slate ripened in south exposure. Area: 1.3 acres Yield: 53 hectolitres per hectare Description: a full-bodied well balanced typical Roter Hang Riesling. Food Pairing: the wine goes very well with sweet-sours sauces, Asian cooking and will be a straightforward companion at your after-workparty.
