We lose one day as we cross the Int l Date Line. Upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, we meet our guide and transfer to Seoul. This capital city of 12 million is set in a pretty valley divided by the Han River, and covers an area as large as Los Angeles, and is home to more than fifth of the country s population. Seoul has been the center of politics, economy, culture, and transportation of Korea for six centuries, since King Taejo founder of the Joseon Dynasty, moved the capital here in the third year (1394) of his reign. The litany of Seoul s cultural heritage is endless; this and modern development make Seoul a favorite tourist destination where visitors find all the amenities and entertainment they could want. Seoul is also a shopping Mecca with many shopping centers and outdoor markets. Sep. 22 Seoul (BL) This morning you will see the beautiful Seoul as you make your way along the Han River in the Yeoido district before making your way to the 63 Building s Observation deck to get a good view of Seoul s Gangnam district. Next you will board a ship for a nice cruise along the Han River to see many of Seoul s 27 bridges that crosses the river bringing cars and trains safely across each day. The lunch you will enjoy on the ship is buffet style. Your next stop will be the one of Seoul s exciting shopping malls for some time to shop and you will be treated to the Lotte Aquarium a popular aquarium for its many species and unique displays. Before leaving Lotte Mall you will eat dinner on your own at the many restaurants or at the food court. Meals: B: Buffet / L: Buffet Sep. 23: Seoul (BLD) This morning you will visit one of Seoul s newest museum the National Modern Art Museum which just opened in 2014. The displays at this wonderful museum is constantly changing and is housed in a beautifully modern building a site to see in itself. Next visit Sarang Chae which is a historical memorial museum where you can learn about the past present and future visions of Seoul and Korea as well as past Presidents of Korea. After lunch you will say hello to Seoul with a tour of this beautiful city. You will visit Gyeongbok Palace and its Folklore Museum. Gyeongbok Palace, built in 1394 (renovated in the 19 th Century, is the grandest of the five palaces of the Joseon Dynasty (1392 1920). The palace has beautifully designed buildings, gardens and pavilions. The National Folk Museum of Korea, located within Gyeongbok Palace is a showcase of the lifestyle of the Korean people from prehistoric age to the Joseon Dynasty, displaying items of everyday use, funerary objects, major work of art, and replicas. You will then take a leisurely walk along the Cheongye Stream in the afternoon, Cheongye opened in October 2005 after the stream was covered for many years. Then proceed to Gwanghwamun Plaza to visit the statues of King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun Shin. Meals: B: Buffet / L: Korean / D: Korean Sep. 24: Seoul/Jeju Island (BLD) This morning we fly to Jeju Island. This resort island is one of the nine provinces of Korea. As a result of its isolated location and romantic tropical scenery, Jeju has become a favorite retreat with honeymooners and tourists. You will first visit Sungsan Sunrise Peak followed by Jeju Folk Museum and Ilchul Land, which features Micheon Cave, Subyeon Park and the many different gardens to stroll through. Accommodation: (2 Night) Booyoung Hotel Meals: B: Buffet / L: Grilled Fish / D: BBQ Black Pork Sep. 25: Jeju Island (BLD) This morning visit the lovely Spirited Garden, which is the world s largest bonsai garden. With its vast open space and lovely waterfalls, this will surely leave a lasting impression. Finally, you will visit Jusangjeolli Cliff to see the imposing stone pillars and Oedolgae Rock which shoots out from the ocean shores. Sep. 26: Jeju Island/Busan (BLD) Today you will fly from Jeju Island to the 2 nd largest city in Korea Busan. You will visit the Jagalchi Fish Market along with the International Market and finally the Gangtong Market all famous to the fishing port of Busan. Maremons. This hotel will have an Onsen (hot springs bath, you will need to wear swim wear to enter the baths however). Accommodation: Maremons Hotel Meals: B; Buffet / L: Korean / D: Buffet Sep. 27: Busan/Gyeongju (BLD) This morning you will have an exciting tour of the Hyundai Motor factory or the Hyundai Heavy Industrial Company. Hyundai Motor is one of the largest automobile companies in the world and see the assembly line or visit the Hyundai Heavy Industrial which is where they build the massive freight and oil tanker ships. Then you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site: Bulguksa Temple, one of Korea s best known temples. A testimony to both the skill of Shilla architects and the depth of Buddhist faith at the time. While most of the wooden buildings have been rebuilt over the centuries, all the stone bridges, stairway and pagodas are original. The temple (535) was enlarged in (752). A quick visit to Cheomseongdae to see the star gazing tower, which is the oldest surviving observatory in East Asia. Next you will visit the Gyeongju Museum, which houses many artifacts to Korean history. Finally visit the Lasunje to learn about Korean food and food culture along with a demonstration or possible a hands on experience if available at time of visit. Sep. 29: Seorak/Icheon/Seoul (BLD) Enjoy Mt. Seorak National Park, considered one of Korea s most beautiful mountain areas. Visit the magnificent outdoor Buddha. Next you will visit the famous region for pottery the Icheon Pottery/Ceramics Village. The village became the center of traditional pottery during the Jeseon Dynasty 1392 1910 for about 500 years due to the easily obtainable materials in the areas. Later it was also the center of Joseon Baekja Ceramics. Presently about 80 pottery factories are congregated at the village and about 300 pottery kilns are in use. You will not only observe the pottery production process but you will have the experience of making pottery at one of the famous kilns. This afternoon we will head back to the capital city Seoul and visit one of the most famous night markets called Dongdaemum Market which opened in 1905 which specializes in wholesale clothing, which has a full range of fashion items from head to toe. Next visit Pyeongchang which is the site of the 2018 Winter Olympics, see some of the sites where popular events will be taking place and their progress. Your home tonight will be the 3

For lunch you will eat at one of Seoul s best Ramen Restaurant in Hongdae district which is the very fashionable University area. Followed by a visit to another beautiful palace called Changdeokgung Palace. This is a UNESCO HERITAGE SITE, completed in 1405 and was the main residence for members of the royal family in early Joseon Dynasty. You will also visit the Trick Eye/Art Museum which houses art that may not always seem like what you thought at first. Tonight you will take a tram ride up to N Seoul Tower and then proceed to the observation deck to see Seoul. (360 degree). You will have dinner at the top of the tower at the revolving restaurant N Grill. Sep. 30: Seoul/DMZ/Seoul (BLD) Half the day will be spent at the (Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). You will visit panmunjun where meeting are held between the north and the south. This area is used since it is housed in a building where the boarder splits at the center of the building and even the large table is divided between the North & South. You will feel the tension of the soldiers guarding this border, which is one of the most heavily guarded in the world. Soldiers here are always on high alert and UN forces are stationed in this area to prevent the outbreak of another war - and the area has been the site of small but dramatic confrontations over the years. Obey all the rules when you re there. A visit to the DMZ is essential if you want to get an understanding of modern Korean society. This afternoon you will have time for shopping in Insadong district, Insa-dong district is where you can find many traditional Korean crafts such as hanji (traditional paper), traditional teas, pottery, folk crafts, and hanbok (traditional clothing). Tonight you will be treated to the famous Korea House, which set in a traditional Korean building you will enjoy traditional Korean dance show and a traditional Korean feast dinner. Meals: B: Buffet / L: Ramen / D: Steak Accommodation: Somerset or Fraser Meals: B: Buffet /L: Korean /D: Korean Oct. 01: Seoul (BLD) This morning you will visit Namdaemun Market one of the oldest running markets in Korea dating back to 1414, which is a massive bustling market that sells any type of imaginable products sold at affordable prices much like a flea market. 4

Oct. 02: Seoul/Yongin/Suwon/Seoul (BLD) After breakfast we drive to Yongin, to one of the country s top tourist attraction the Korean Folk Village, a living museum that recreates the lifestyle of several centuries ago. There are potters, weavers, blacksmiths, and other artisans who practice their trades in traditional fashion. There are also 260 traditional houses, each representing a different Korean lifestyle from rural peasant to aristocratic; and a small amphitheatre for folk music and dance performance. Also we visit Suwon to visit the Hwaseong Fortress a WORLD HERITAGE SITE where King Jeongjo built the walls in the late 18 th Century to honor and house the remains of his father Prince Sado. The walls surround the city of Suwon with the main stream flowing through the fortress. This afternoon you will have a chance to wear the traditional Korean clothing called Hanbok and dress up as if you were living amongst King Sejong in the Joseon Kingdom. You will also have a hands on experience of making the most famous dish of Korea Kimchee. This evening you will visit Myeong-dong, which is Seoul s main shopping area. Here you will also have dinner at Gyoja Restaurant. Tonight you will enjoy another one of Korea s hit shows called Nanta. This is a show that combines comedy and cooking, it has been pleasing audiences since the early 1990 s all over the world. Oct. 03: Seoul/Incheon/USA (BD) This morning you will visit the National Museum of Korea. The museum contains over 150,000 pieces in its collection with 11,000 on display at one time. It is the largest museum in Asia and the fifth largest in the world in terms of floor space, covering 307,227 square feet. Also a quick visit to the Blue House where the President resides and where offices are located. You will tour the inside of the Blue House before its time to say annyeongghi-gaseyo or anneyo to our new friends and to lovely South Korea. We will transfer by Airport Express Train A REX from Seoul Station to the modern Incheon International Airport.
