Prefers well drained soil. (25/ $16.00) Norway Spruce (Picea abies) 4 Year Seedlings, 12-24 One of the fastest growing spruces. Short-needled tree with deep green foliage. Grows to 75-80ft. Does well as an ornamental, shelter or windbreak tree. Prefers well drained soils but can grow where soils are moist. (25/ $16.00) Red Pine (Picea abies) 3 Year Seedlings, 12-24 A very hardy pine and grows well in all but the wettest soils. Can be planted as an ornamental but does best in plantation settings. A popular pine for our region and can grow up to 75 feet. (25/ $16.00) Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus) 3 Year Seedlings, 8-18 A rapid-growing pine with bundles of five, soft, bluish-green needles. The largest growing conifer in the northeast and can reach to a height of 75-100 feet. Makes an excellent ornamental, Christmas tree or windbreak. It is adapted to a wide variety of soils and climatic conditions. Eastern white pine will grow in almost all Crawford County soils that do not have standing water. (25/ $16.00) Canadian Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) 3 Year Seedlings, 12-18 Our Pennsylvania State Tree! Graceful landscape tree good for privacy or hedges and provides excellent cover and a seed source for wildlife. Pyramidal shape with soft, short green needles. Well suited for shade, grows up to 70 feet tall. Prefers well-drained soils. F (25/ $16.00) Red Cedar (Eastern) (Juniperus virginiana) 2 Year Seedlings, 8-14 A fast-growing, dense pyramidal evergreen which grows up to 50 feet tall with a width of 8-20 feet. By autumn it develops dark blue, fleshy, highly aromatic, berry-like cones which are food for birds and small mammals. Requires full sunlight and prefers rich, moist, well-drained soils. Used for landscaping and excellent for hedges and screens. (25/ $16.00) Japanese Larch (Larix kaempferi) 3 Year Seedlings, 24-36 (New this year) A fast growing deciduous conifer (it loses its needles every year). It grows in moderately to well-drained soils and will reach heights of up to 80 feet. It is shade intolerant and prefers full sun. Most often used in plantation settings or as single tree specimens. (25/ $18.00) Fraser Fir (Abies fraseri) 4 Year Seedlings, 8-16 (New this year) A small evergreen coniferous tree growing to between 30 and 50 feet tall. Fraser Fir is widely used as a Christmas tree. Its mild fragrance, shape, strong limbs, and ability to retain its soft needles (which do not prick easily when hanging ornaments) for a long time when cut make it one of the best trees for this purpose. It prefers moderately to well-drained soils and full sun. (25/$16.00) DECIDUOUS TREE SEEDLINGS (Note: F Recommend planting in conjunction with fencing Recommend planting in conjunction with tree shelters.) Red Oak (Quercus rubra) A deciduous tree that grows 75-80 feet tall. Prefers well-drained soils. Dense green foliage turns a deep red in the fall. The fastest growing of all the oaks. Start your backyard fruit tree orchard by purchasing these fine 4-6 feet bare root dwarf and semi dwarf trees. Each fruit tree will be labeled and come individually packaged. Apples Trees (Dwarf) $19.50 Best to order 2 species for pollination. Northern Spy Northern Spy is a very old-fashioned American variety which retains its popularity. It is a typical winter apple variety, picked in late October or early November, and then used through the winter months. Juicy, crisp and mildly sweet with a rich, aromatic sub-acid flavor, noted for high vitamin C content. More tart and crunchier than most, it is a good dessert and pie apple that is also used for juice and cider. Honey Crisp The fruit is mostly orange-red with a yellow background. This crisp, juicy, sweet-tart apple has a rich flavor that has made it #1 in taste panels. The fruit averages 3 inches. Outstanding winter hardiness gives this variety excellent potential for northern growing regions. This apple is good for snacking, salads and sauce-making, and stores well. Royal Court (New this year) A newly patented red blushed strain of the popular Cortland apple cultivar. The fruit is very high quality with typical firm Cortland flesh and sweet sub-acid flavor. Royal Court blooms in mid-season and will pollinate all other early blooming apple varieties, varieties blooming in the middle of the season, and also varieties blooming late in the season. Golden Delicious (New this year) One of the most important apple varieties of the 20th century, both as a commercial variety in its own right, and as breeding stock for many other varieties. Golden Delicious is a large, yellow skinned cultivar and very sweet to the taste. The apple is excellent for eating fresh, baking pies and making apple sauce or apple butter.

Pears Trees (Dwarf) $20.50 Order one of each for required pollination. Bartlett This multi-purpose pear is a long-standing favorite of orchard and home fruit enthusiasts alike. A large, heavy-bearing variety with excellent quality. A favorite for all uses and considered one of the best canning varieties. Bartlett requires cross pollination and ripens in late August. The leaves turn from green to yellow in the fall, and it grows lovely white flowers. It requires full sun, good moisture in the soil along with good drainage. Clapp s Favorite The pears are greenish-yellow with a hint of red and are sweet, delicious, and full of flavor; quite good for cooking, as well as bottling or canning. The pears are normally harvested from mid-august to late September and, unlike most pears, they ripen just fine if left on the tree. If pruned correctly, Clapp's Favorite Pear tree is a great addition to small gardens. It also attracts pollinating insects such as bees, which are drawn to the tree s flowers for nectar. Peach Trees (Semi-Dwarf) $20.50 Reliance Well known for its cold hardiness, this variety is ideal for the home garden. Fruits are medium to large and the bright yellow firm flesh is honey sweet, and freestone. Self pollinating and ripens early. Red Haven (New this year) Red Haven is the all-time favorite of peach lovers for both canning and eating fresh. The Red Haven peach is almost pure red in color, and is freestone. Ripens in late July and is self pollinating. Plum Trees (Semi-Dwarf) $20.50 Santa Rosa (New this year) An all-time favorite home and commercial variety, producing an abundant harvest of dark crimson fruit each summer, with firm flesh and a wonderfully pleasing flavor. Excellent for fresh eating or in preserves. This lovely accent or border tree provides a showy display of white flowers in spring. A pollenizer is not necessary, but fruit production will be increased when another Plum tree is planted nearby. Stanley (New this year) Is one of the most tasteful and reliable varieties of plums. The fruit is sweet and juicy, though firm. The smooth skin is deep violet purple with greenish yellow flesh. The fruit is excellent fresh as well as canned, high sugar content makes them ideal for drying. It blooms late in the spring and is mostly selffertile, though it benefits from a pollinator nearby. It's large, bright red fruit is very attractive, with firm yellow flesh. It is very cold tolerant and disease resistant. Montmorency is self-pollinating and ripens in late-july.
