Wine: 2009 Trittenheimer Apotheke - Riesling - Spätlese Mosel Valley The late harvesting of the Riesling grapes which grow on the steep slate slopes of the well-known Moselle Trittenheimer Apotheke, give this wine particular character and finesse. The slate rock on the slopes absorbs the sun's warmth during the day and releases it back at night, thereby reducing temperature fluctuations. The slate also gives the wine its taste and distinctive character. The extremely steep slopes up to 70%, are on the right bank of the Moselle, in a south-west and west direction. Until the year 1909 the vintners had to use a ferry to get to their vineyards, after which a bridge was built. This wine has an aroma of ripe peaches, lively and fresh, yet mild in taste. This is an agreeable Riesling with a harmonious structure. We recommend this wine mainly with fish, white meats, to deserts or to be enjoyed on its own alcohol 8.0 % vol; acidity 7.9 g/l; sugars 57.30 g/l; 2009 Brilliance Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) - Spätlese Rheinhessen The vines are grown on the sunny slopes of the Hügelland Rheinhessen where the soil has a deep nutrient content and sufficient moisture. Wine: The Ahr Valley: With 1,285 acres / 520 hectares of vineyards, the Ahr Valley is the biggest area for the production of red wine, in Germany The Eiffel range serves as protection, and with the influence of milder air from the Ahr and the Rhine rivers, the valley has an almost Mediterranean climate. Ancient stone paths among the vineyards tell of centuries of vintner tradition.
