AVERNA Herbal bittersweet scent. Smooth on the tongue with herbal and citrus, followed by dominant caramel flavours, a hint of coffee and a sweet and lightly bitter finish. CYNAR The artichoke liqueur known for its versatility and taste Cynar is an artichoke based bitter. Its distinctive flavour is enriched from an infusion of 13 herbs and plants, making it a completely natural drink, rich in scents and a unique taste. MONTENEGRO The name Amaro Montenegro was a tribute to Elena, second Queen of Italy, the wife of Vittorio Emanuele III. Deep tawny in colour with a notable viscosity. A comples and noisy frenetic nose reveals notes of orange, herbs, dried peach, cola and almond. Bittersweet on the palate, this classically styled product is beautifully crafted, combining sugar and tangy bitterness consummately well. Perfect. ZUCCA Made from an infusion of Rhubarb Rootstocks and a secret selection of rare herbs, Rabarbaro captures an appealingly delicate flavour. Zucca is made using the root of the true Chinese Rhubarb, which grows only in the mountainous regions of Kansu province. Ebony colour. Aroma with distinct hints of rhubarb and fine Chinese herbs. Pleasantly bitter, balanced, lingering and long on the palate. 160

AMARETTO NOCELLO SAMBUCA From the great Toschi tradition, an inimitable international taste. Smooth almond liqueur of the highest quality. Amber caramel hue. On the nose very bright almond scents. With a delicate, fragrant flavour, Nocello is a liqueur made from walnuts and hazelnuts with an alcohol content of 24% by volume. Ideal served straight, on the rocks or chilled in the freezer. A wonderful addition to espresso coffee and cappuccino, and also as an ingredient in cocktails and long drinks. Over the last few years, liqueur Nocello by Toschi has obtained several awards at international level. Toschi Sambuca is made from a selection of 32 herbs and spices, including the rare and ancient Star Anise. With its alcohol content of 40% by volume, Sambuca is ideal when served chilled, after dinner, or with espresso coffee. It is also an excellent ingredient in cocktails and long drinks. 164
STREGA LIQUEUR An absolutely natural product Strega liqueur is one of the most famous Italian liqueurs. It is unique and unmistakable for its taste, thanks to the exclusive use of natural ingredients. Made of approx 70 herbs and spices, each with unique properties, including Ceylon cinnamon, Florentine iris, Italian Apennine juniper and Samnite mint, its unique colour comes from saffron. Strega liqueur is aged in ash barrels over a long period of time to ensure a perfect blending of the different aromas. The resulting distillate is 40% proof and only after the ageing process is the liqueur bottled and distributed all over the world. 165
VERMOUTH Italy / Spain There are references to Vermouth dating back to 1896 in Spain. The inventory books show the existence of Vermouth between 1896 and 1926. Firstly in the section of foreign wines and then as of 1909 included in the bottling business from various regions.
SPAIN ITALY "LA COPA" ROSSA ROSSO ANTICO BOUQUET Intense spiced aroma, notes of clove and cinnamon stand out, with an elegant bitterness on the finish. PALATE On the palate it is smooth and elegant. There can be no doubt as to its origins in Jerez. La Copa brand was one of the first to be registered by Gonzalez Byass dating back to 1884. The production follows the original recipe from 1906 and the packaging is a replica of the original label. Produced from fine Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez soleras which are more than 8 years old. A meticulous selection of botanicals, wormwood, savory, clove, orange peel, nutmeg, cinnamon, angelica and quinine achieves the perfect bitter sweet, aromatic balance, the proportions of which is a closely guarded secret, kept under lock and key in the winery. COLOUR Ruby red in colour. PALATE Translated literally as Ancient Red, Rosso Antico is an aromatised, lightly fortified wine made from neutral grape alcohol, 32 herbs and spices including sage, thyme, elder, rhubarb, china bark and rosemary. Bittersweet on the palate with an aftertaste of peels and spices, Rosso Antico is excellent when served with ice and a slice of lemon to make the perfect aperitif. 167
