Salt Dough Ornaments Make your own ornaments for your Holiday tree! Ingredients: 1 cup table salt 1 cup all-purpose flour Up to 1 cup warm water Directions: 1. Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Stir in the water* gradually, stopping when the mixture is dough-like and not too sticky. (If it s too sticky, just add more flour). 2. Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Form the dough into a ball and knead for 5 minutes, until it is soft and stretchy. 3. Roll out the dough to a ¼ inch thickness and cut out shapes with holiday cookie cutters. 4. Use a straw to poke holes near the top of each shape so that ribbon or string can be threaded through later. 5. Place the ornaments on parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake at 200º F until your ornaments are dry - about 1 hour for thinner ornaments and up to 3 hours fro thicker ones. Start checking them after about 40 minutes! Transfer onto a wire rack and allow to cool overnight. 6. Once dry, you can paint your creations with acrylic paints (the arcrylic will act as a sealant). When the paint is dry you can decorate with glitter glue, for a sparkly sheen! *TIP: If you want to colour the dough before baking, add food colouring, coffee or tea to the water.
