Holy Cross Newsletter F E B R U A R Y 2 PARENT C O U N C I L MEETING : M A Y 1 7 @ 1 : 3 0 P M A L L W E L C O M E! Principal Message Wow, where has the time gone! It is hard to believe that we are halfway through May and I have been a part of the Holy Cross Family for almost a year! We have put in a busy few months. Trickster was a great success. We were given the opportunity to see gifts in our students that we had not seen before. Thanks to the Parent Council for assisting financially and with parent volunteers. It would not have been possible without your help. Also to all the staff that pitched in and helped make the experience so amazing! I would like to say Congratulations to all the grade 3 students who celebrated their First Holy Communion and to the grade 6s who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. May God bless each of you as you continue to grow in your faith and love for Jesus. I have recently reclaimed our Facebook Page. We will use it as an additional form of communication. Please follow our page! You can find it @holycrossgp or search Holy Cross Catholic School on Facebook. This will be a page that only our school will be able to post and update. Messages can not be left on this page. As always if you have concerns please contact the school directly. Yours in Christ, Lee Boylan

Newsletter Insert May 2017 Sir Bernard Williams, an English philosopher, once said, The day the Lord created hope was probably the day He created Spring. And these days, as the sun shines longer, the birds sing louder, and the grass grow greener, it s hard to argue with him. Spring, especially after a long winter, brings about a change in us, entices us, and draws us out of the coc we ve spun through the long winter nights. It s a splendid time, made even better because it coincides w most hopeful and celebratory Season in our liturgical year, Easter. During the season of Easter the readings tell of the times Jesus appeared, in His resurrected body, to His ples. We hear about the Disciple Thomas, expressing his doubt, about the walk to Emmaus and the two di recognizing Christ in the breaking of bread. And Peter, professing his love for Christ, not once, but three and in response being told to feed Christ s sheep. As I hear these stories I think of spring, and our reaction to it. As we notice the buds on the trees, the du the water, tulips spurting up through the brown earth, we experience a feeling of excitement. The little that runs through you, knowing the amazing things that are going to happen. We experience hope, that w Bernard Williams spoke of, a hope we associate with each new sign of spring. I imagine that the way we e ence spring is a small sample of what it must have been like for the Disciples, as they encountered Christ the resurrection. Each time they saw Jesus, reacting like we do, with excitement, joy, and hope, but ten I pray, that as you journey through this Easter season and experience the hope of spring that you live in t hope of Christ. That His love and His promise of everlasting life, brings you a hope that will sustain you th spring and all the seasons of your life.
