She is proving to be a very important parent in the quest for astonishing patterns. Wide ruffled cream petals with large yellow teeth and a small green throat. Hot sun lightens the flower color and the substance is excellent. One of the widest petaled northern hardy flowers I know of with such nice teeth and it still opens well. Carnivorasaurus will repeat bloom on some years in my zone 4 garden. One parent comes from Dan Trimmer, another parent is a Stout medal winner from Larry Grace, and perhaps the big contributor to size is Whatley s RAM. The substance of HEAVENLY SUNRISE is especially nice, and it is not particularly impacted by the summer heat. I picked the name HEAVENLY SUNRISE after thinking long and hard about the impression the flower has on me when I see it bloom. Some say the song refers to incense that was often burned to mask the smell of marijuana, and peppermints were used to mask the smoke on a person's breath. I just liked the song. Red patterns are rare. Dormant red patterns even more rare. Add in the 7" size and the consistent look that is not temperature dependent and you can see the hybridizing potential.
